Got a touch of the 'winter blues' at the moment with the constant yard chores on top of family life and full time work.....

Heard a quote yesterday that occurred to me when I was pushing my barrow around the yard, in the darkness before and after my 12 hour shifts this week.......

"Women want a relationship with their horse. They end up in a relationship with their wheel barrow...."

I have to admit, I have a bit of the winter blues too... Can't wait to enjoy our first spring with my new horse and want this winter done with now!

Yes, its MudLake-gate at the yard so after a few days out I'm happy he has a day in - though we have been rain free now for 4 days and sometimes it almost sounds like Spring is on the way, but the water just won't drain away in the field. Yard has been interesting this winter so roll on mid-late April when they can all go out 24/7 if they want to and the humans get a break from being all on top of each other too!

I must admit I havent been too bad this year, seem to have managed ok...then christmas came and went....BOOM now I have the winter blues :)
Random, as I can also leave the field without my head torch for the first time in weeks in the mornings, I should be excited!!!!!

Yes, but is it my imagination and there is just a hint more length in the day? Managed to ride one at 4.30 this evening; before xmas I'd have to getting off the last at 4 at the latest. Light at the end of the tunnel????

I always get mega winter blues even though I don't mind cold and rain, its the light! As Cortez has illustrated the days are getting longer... YAY!!

A case of winter blues and going from what I would call a 'lightweight cob' to a 'super heavyweight cob' . If I stuffed myself with any more cake, chocolate or mince pies I risked exploding!

Yep another who feels that the boulder is getting heavier! I think one reason is that our lot came in at night in September  two months before they usually do, it has made for a long winter, by my reckoning it should be the beginning of March now!

Def not, it is certainly lighter, plus it helps that for most of use those ruddy great rainclouds have moved to :)

Downhill slope for me atm, freewheeling into Spring :)

There was a definite feel of Spring in the air this morning, with the milder air and the birds all tweeting away. Made me feel much more positive - oh, and the fact it wasn't raining!

Yeah, me. I feel bluer than blue thing in blue land.

Don't ask why. I just do. I miss the big yellow thing in the sky. I miss seeing shadows. I miss colour. I miss beers in a beer garden, I miss dry pets.

I want to move to Spain.

Well to make you all jealous...
Last night my horses all stayed out
I didn't work at the yard today, only other job in a supermarket

So I didn't muck out a single stable, first time in 3 months.

Glad i'm not the only one being blue today.

Categorically and expensively established i'm not going to pass my trailer test any time soon this morning.

But thank you for making me feel slightly better OP. I actually knew who Sisyphus was before reading, which made me feel a tiny bit cultured - not a feeling i'm used to.

Also OP, thanks for thread title, I couldn't remember which greek myth it was (thought it was the one about having a sieve to carry water) but now I'm all wiki'd up. :)

I used to have a fab classic mythology book, but have lost it :(

I have to agree. I thank god for Mini TX, who does the horses for me a lot of the time. Its all mud, mud, mud etc and dark nights. I particularly hate Sunday mornings for some reason mucking out. Whats a lie in?
