Hi all,
I know this may sound weird, but I’m desperate…
Is anyone flying or know anyone flying to Antalya, Turkey that may be able to take two samples and send them to Westgate labs via next day delivery?

Of course I will pay for everything 🙏
 
What are the samples? What is the problem you are desperate about? Maybe there is another way of sorting this out that someone can think of for you?

Edited - I looked at your other posts, is this blood tests for allergies?

a fecal and saliva test that i purchased from Westgate labs, unfortunately I cannot get the tests to them in time (as they’ll be over 6 days) anything over 6 days would be pointless to look at

i don’t quite understand what you are trying to say? my horse has health problems and due to me and my horse being in a different country away from civilisation i don’t quite know how else to sort his problems out. dont see the need in your pointless and insensitive comment.

that’s weird…my father bought the empty sample packets here somehow. i talked with a bunch of people on here and no one mentioned that a fecal and saliva test are illegal…i also talked with the lab they also didn’t mention that this is illegal, as long as it’s bought to them in 6 days then ‘it’s fine’.

may i also ask, how would i be able to send the saliva and fecal test legally? through international services at companies like DHL?

Yes.

Try asking DHL, FedEx and other similar carriage companies if they can transport biological samples for analysis internationally.

If they can't (or won't) do it, ask for the names of companies that can.

Also, try asking local doctors or clinics.

I imported cheese to the US from Europe. Ok, not biological samples, but still the cheese needed to be in an insulated box with special cold packs and 48 hour service.

For biological samples, you might need dry ice at -80°C.

Op, have I understood correctly that the horse is in Turkey, but you are in fact in the UK and need the sample bringing to the UK to Westgate?

It is illegal to import a sample against this procedure. If you want to take this risk yourself then so be it. But to ask a stranger to do this is completely unreasonable imo. Your father would have had no problem because of course, the packets were empty.

I do understand your desperation, maybe if you provide some more information on your situation someone on here could advise?
 
I have reported this. It is a request for someone else to do something illegal.
Plus we do not know for sure that these are horse samples - HHO forum does mules, but not all kinds .
 
I’m gonna stick my neck out here…I think we ve been “groomed”. The poster said they were a show jumper and then asked such very basic questions which could be answered by livery yards/stables/vets in Turkey. It may all have been leading to this request.

wow that’s insane.

i’ve already asked universities, doctors clinics etc. no one cares about my horses situation so i have resorted to vets in europe.

i never knew that manure and saliva was classified as a a biological sample!

I was only asking a stranger to do it because my father cannot make it in time back to the UK (within 6 days). I also never knew fecal and saliva tests are classified as ‘illegal’ or ‘biological’.

as i mentioned I talked with a bunch of people on here and the company itself and no one mentioned such protocols to me.
so from what i understand, such biological samples can only shipped though companies like DHL etc?

I guess I don’t really have a certain situation. My horse has allergies, and I cannot get to the bottom of them, I was advised to do a mane and mineral test, and a parasite test. My father brought them here to Turkey, only now I’m finding out that it’s illegal to send them back. As I stated in my previous threads the vets here are useless, and i am also a foreigner in this country so there’s a huge language barrier and massive discrimination.

So now I’m stuck with an allergic horse and I have no clue how to send these samples back to be tested. I guess that kind of sums up my situation

do you really have nothing else to do on a sunday?

if you read my previous comments you could understand my situation. i lived in the uk for 10 years i left the country when i was 14, so you think i know what protocols the uk has for shipping samples?

i also never knew saliva and fecal tests were ‘illegal’ as no one mentioned this to me previously neither did the lab.

Everything is a biological sample if it could potentially have bacteria or viruses in it. If I sell the wool shorn off my sheep it has to be in the official bag and have paperwork in triplicate which says it is "hazardous" (& that's selling within UK, i don't send it abroad).
Not so insane actually if you add up all the awful diseases that we don't have & that could be brought in accidentally. The customs officials have no way of knowing if your sample has EIA in it, or one of dozens of other things. So a few forms & licences are a cheap price to keep everyone safe.

Definitely talk to couriers - they will have done it before.

1) i don’t speak turkish to be able to speak to livery yards/stables/vets well. the vets do speak english, however very poorly.

the vets recommend that i feed my horse only oats and there is no turnout here. i think that should tell you why i don’t speak to ‘livery yards’ or ‘vets’ here.

i would provide more information if you ask 👍

Do you know of any couriers that do this specifically? I know DHL does this, but I’m not too sure on other companies…
 
So we ship a lot of animal samples between ourselves and mostly europe. The carrier isn't the issue we use Fedex/dhl mostly depending on the best option at the other end. The issue is customs and that is more problematic for biological samples from mammals (we mostly deal with fish) but even then and with all the correct paperwork sometimes samples get held up too long to be of any use. It was much easier pre brexit unfortunately.
There are more bespoke (££) options like biocair

Great thanks! My dad will land in Heathrow when he comes back to England.

Shame its not cheap I plan on doing these parasite tests 4 times a year.

It’s a shame i find this out only now :/
