Yes, this is a pro pic, and yes, I have full permission from the photographer to post this here having bought the JPEG image and specifically asked him about posting on this forum before anyone gets button happy!

So, for anyone who thought I might have been exaggerating slightly when I mentioned jumping 5ft hedges a few weeks ago, this is me and my amazing orange pony this season out with the Kent and Surrey bloodhounds (who, for the record, are completely nuts and jump hedge after hedge like this!) I did feel slightly insane coming down to this hedge but the landing was fun!

WOW - awesome picture!! I might have you muddled with another forum user but I am sure that you've said somewhere that you are not the bravest jumping?!! I just look at your profile photo and now this photo and think WOW!!!

Loving the ginger and he looks like he loves his job :)

nope, you're not muddling me. I am a right wuss when it comes to show jumps. Get me out hunting and some kind of insane alter ego takes over! Not sure if it's the port or the thrill of keeping up with the pack but I will jump almost anything! It helps that my pony tows me into them and I dont have much choice. The pic in my signature is my other pony who got me into this hunting lark. 3yrs ago I'd never jumped over 2ft9 - something in me decided to take him draghunting at Tweseldown - it was flat out completely crazy stuff and I've never sworn so much as I did when I finished in one piece and from then on was totally hooked. Ask anyone who's known me longer than 3yrs though and they'll confirm that I've always been a right wibbly jumper!

Superb!! That and the one in your sig look enormous! I'd need brave pants on for sure!

Perhaps I should go hunting too, might make me braver, I'm rather taken with the idea of an insane alter ego muhahaha!

Beautiful hedge! I love hedges like that!! Swooning over the hedge! :D :D

Fab orange pony too, very nice!

I am dreadful out hunting too, I say I'm having a quiet day, going to be sensible etc etc & then get over excited & turn into a loon!!

i find myself driving along the road eyeing up hedges thinking how much fun they would be to jump - do I have some kind of hedge addiction? :D

I do exactly the same thing!! Who do you hunt with? They really are smashing hedges. I am still shocked that a 2ft9 show jump would make you shudder!! I suppose horses for courses but your 5ft hedge is certainly worth a shudder! I have to agree, once your bloods up and a few ports (or 7) have been sunk it is 'Come on Lets Go'!! Glad you had a wonderful day - be great to see some more photo's before the season finishes.

well it has to be about 3tf3 before a SJ makes me shudder these days but had seriously never jumped over 2ft9 before I got my last horse 4yrs ago.

I mainly hunt with the SC&RMA draghunt but on my quest for more hedges I've also been out with the Kent and Surrey Bloodhounds (who are hedge hopping mad) and the Berks and Bucks draghounds.

there are loads more photos of us hedge hopping but I haven't bought any of them and dont have a direct link to the pics on the photographer's website so would mean putting up complicated list of instructions to go and find them which I suspect no-one would bother with!

WOW!! Brilliant pic! He sure does look like he's enjoying himself.

I'm exactly the same as you, I will jump anything out hunting or xc but put me in an arena with a course of 3 foot showjumps and my legs turn to jelly and I suddenly loose all ability to actually ride the horse! I just sit there like a plank and hope he gets me round! Which, as he is so genuine and clever he always does, bless him. Poor horse! :D

Fab pic, Star!

Unfortunately we didn't get togs following when I used to go bloodhounding (about ten years ago now) so the only hedge pic I have is the one at a team chase below.

I'm another who found jumping XC and out hunting easier than SJing, but I did find my SJing was better after a season's bloodhounding! Sadly my hedge hopping days are over now :(

Lovely pic! I went out with Kent and Surrey at their Stilemans meet - but they didn't jump anything like that. Shame, I'd have gone to more meets, if I thought there'd have been hedges like that on offer!

well i only went to 2 meets - one at the jolly farmer pub near Oldencraig and one at Coombelands and both involved hedge after hedge after hedge. So many that I decided I wouldn't go out with them again that season as valued my horse's legs too much!

See now that I have a horse (an actual horse, I have always had ponies!) that would be capable of things like that, I can't wait to get out hunting next year!! Only managed to get out cubbing once this year due to various injuries (me and the horses) so really looking forward to next season :D

Was that the one with all the antis and police out? I was watching when you went behind the feed merchants!

no - never seen any antis or police. They're bloodhounds - dont think the antis are much bothered about a pack of bloodhounds chasing a grown man! Cant imagine they'd be quick enough to catch a fox.
