Anyone from West Lothian? Local info needed!

Having moved fairly recently to West Lothian I am still finding my horsey feet. I have found a haylage supplier and feed stores but short on - arena hire, farrier and local competition venues. Aware of the big ones ie Oatridge, Kingsbarn etc, but does anyone have any top tips? I'm not far from Broadmeadow livery yard in West Calder.

Also I am desperate to find a helper - work and sometimes social life are suffering due to my lack of local horsey pals! IDEALLY I would be able to find a cleaner/groom superwoman who would be able to handle two rather marish mares (I should point out that they annoyed me today due to being wild in the wind, but are really sweet most of the time)

Try asking at Oatridge for a farrier as they train them and could tell you who is in the area. Also put an advert up at the college if your looking for help as they have lots of horsey students. Central saddlery is ideal for feed and hay they have lots of types. The grange saddlery is in West Calder is also quite good. You could also try putting an advert in the adtrader the blue and yellow paper if you need help and also www.horses-sales.com as they have a scotland section in it.

Hi, welcome to the area, i am a mile from broadmeadow, are you actually there? I have a brill farrier, pm me and i will give you his details. Oh just had a thought, have you just moved into PH (initials). You can hire school at the grange just a couple of miles away. There are comps going on at Jumps, oatridge, fieldings etc. pm me and i can give you any local info.

Chestnut Mare - Yes I have moved into PH! Love it, apart from the constant wind and rain, yuck...

No not actually stabled at Broadmeadow, it's just the nearest horsey reference point I could think of!

Good to know re the Grange, and a good idea on asking Oatridge about the farrier.
