Anyone get their riding clothes from Primark?

I'm looking for cheap polo shirts, gilets/body warmers, socks etc for every day riding- does Primark sell this kind of stuff?
The 'proper' riding shops seem to sell one polo shirt for about £30! :eek:
Sports Direct do some cheap riding clothes but they've all got this tacky 'Beverly Hills Polo Club' logo on them which puts me off...
 
When I last looked sports direct had some polo shirts with no writing on them, purple and white striped and blue and white striped if I remember correctly.
 
I get loads from primark (or 'primarni!').
When they do the golf stuff that's the best, my xc base layer was £2.50 from there 4 years ago and is still going strong, I just kick myself for not getting 2!
 
Aldi have had a few gilets, fleeces, base layers and things recently, I had my eye on a fishing tackle bag which looked super for grooming kit!

I do have some primark things like strappy tops and stuff but I feel like their sweatshops must be horrendous.... I may be entirely wrong about this of course! I know some of the other high street places are pretty awful so I just dread to think since the prices are often less than half!
 
You can buy cheap tops from anywhere can't you?? I ride in decent boots and jods then any old t-shirts (hacking only).

I'd rather buy decent second hand stuff from Ebay than primark though as its not a hugely ethical company, but if that doesn't bother you then go for it!

Yes, I do agree with the last point. I used to be so principled, but I have no money now and my principles have all but gone.
 
Me, and I ride in their jeggins, £7 where you pay £50+ for denim jods! The seams are very thin so don't rub, I ride in them all day and they do different fits :)
 
Great, thank you everyone. I've never shopped there before, hence the question. I'm in London so I doubt that my local Aldi would do a 'horsey' range but I might go and have a look just in case :)
ETA: I'm the same as Lolo- if I had the money to go and buy ethical clothing then I definitely would, but I'm a poor student with hardly any money so it's not very viable unfortunately!

I work at primark and they sell all what u r after. Just watch the socks they r thin and fall down. Also i think bodywarmers have finished now (i work in underwear!). If u r a size 6 or 8 then they might have some left esp in my store!!!
 
Yep, loadsa stuff but as mentioned above not the socks! Stock up on their thermal stuff, it's not bad!
 
Definitely for strappy tops. Sports direct do reasonable hoodies that actually fit better than things like rugby shirts from crew clothing, which I tried and don't wash well. They tend to be brands like Puma, mine has lasted for ages. They also do good base layers and 'technical' running tops which are good for riding - I use them for cross country as they are stretchy and comfortable.
 
Yep love primark for riding gear. Cheap and hard wearing normally.

Aldi and Lidl are good too but they don't stock suitable gear all the time you have to look out for their specials. Not just the riding gear, the cycling, running and hiking stuff is worth a look too. I have a super long sleeve hi-viz that packs down to the size of a tennis ball. Also check out things like the gardening buckets and trugs.
 
Ohh... Why is primark not ethical (I've never actually been to primark - but am always keen to know whose ethical and whose not!!! :-)
 
sports direct do looadssss! but dont just look at the horse section on the website because anything 'horse' related autmoatically add's £10 to the price :rolleyes: just look at the running or cycling section
also decathlon have some nice cheap stuff, but same applies!
 
I ride in there jeggings and have loads of t shirts for down the yard. There long socks are great for in the winter and I have two great lightweight hoodies - for £8. I even brought a pair of pumps for £3 to wear down the yard in the summed instead of ruining my Converses! I know I shouldnt, but I do like Primarni!
 
I got a pile of polo shirts reduced to £1 each a few years ago and they are going strong.
Fleeces are good and handy.
There thermal socks are great, I wear all year round as they save my sensitive feet from rubbing. In the Winter keep an eye out for there ski socks.
Best buy was a thermal base layer which is fab in the winter and a great cross country top. If I saw them again I would buy a few so I could wear continuously in Winter.
 
We have a shop in our town called Boyes (a budget department store type of shop) they had Fruit of the Loom polo shirts the other week for £3 which were nicely fitted (but not too fitted!) they had lots of colours and I got quite a few to try and match with my saddlecloths!
 
I buy those ridiculous leggings they have in alsorts of colours just to make the yard look abit more less dull! Always cheers the grumblers of the yard up when I turn up looking like a numpty!!
 
Haha I am a student too and hardly ever buy clothes! When I was younger I seemed to buy loads but now I just wear the same old things all the time :-)

I get most jods off eBay, I have some faves for 17 quid which I buy in different colours :-) I find places like Dorothy Perkins are really good for the sale, I pop into the retail park every now and then and find some jeans for a tenner, minus student discount and I'm winning! And the sizes are reliable unlike primark!

I had to buy some beige breeches in a tack shop for a last minute show, god it hurt me to cough up 35 quid to wear them for one day :'-( ah well I'm sure ill wear them again sometime!
 
I got some really great "riding" socks from Primark, and if you ride in jeans then Tesco have some really good skinny jeans with a bit of a stretch to them which are so comfy for riding and fit really well too. I hate spending too much on everyday riding clothes but I want to look smart at the same time. It can be done if you shop around! :)
