Anyone going 2 Windor Spons Ride?

I am going with Drummer on the sunday. We've never been before but several of our friends have and said its a nice ride to do. We are looking forward to doing some jumping

I'm still debating, right time for my youngster but the jumping is pretty rubbish and the entry/sponsorship is quite expensive for rubbish jumping.

I went last year. Fanstastic ride, but don't go if you're only going for the jumps. I think there's only 20, and there set up in groups of 4 in a straight line. Their smaller jumps, which vary up to 2ft6ish, and then a line of bigger jumps next to it which all looked over 3ft and some were probably 3ft6. It was difficult if you only want to jump one of them because they were in a line and so to get a decent line into 1, and then not jump the next was tricky!

However the rest of the ride was fantastic, with lots of places to have good long canters! I did find it pricey compared to other rides though.

Went last year and year before. It's v. expensive there are better rides to go to if you want to go for the jumping.

Another problem i found was that the stewards were only at the fences and groups of unaccompanied and inconsiderate young teenagers see fit to take advantage of the lack of supervision galloping up and down the longer canter stretches with complete disregard for other riders. (Rant over)

I also wouldn't go if it's been wet nearer the time, the time before last, we spent the whole ride over the horse's knees in thick mud and the jumps were to boggy to be safe. This is particulalry worse on a Sunday as it has had all weekend to churn up.

I can however recommend the West Wycombe Sponsored Ride. This is extremely will coordinated with a variety of different jumps.

Im going along on the sunday!! Im also riding western on my palomino - Im riding around with a youngster on a grey highland pony....

Did it a few years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it.....

I did all the jumps bar one huge one and I am a bit of a wimp!! So they cant be that bad

Expensive though and I wont be going this year!!
