Having not ridden for over 10 years, and being a grumpy 'old' man, my dad shocked me the other day by vaulting on a 17hh beast. I felt ashamed climbing on to my trusty block and hauling myslf on
Lol, bless that pony, very cute. My late mare was a good 14.2h so I could get on from the ground no problems, did not like to do it to her back too much mind but came in handy being able to mount form the floor
AWWW that is so CUTE! I have always been too gangly for a tiny pony :-( Love the knee in stirrup approach! I am such a faffer when it comes to getting on , but I've got much better (all that rising trot has strengthened my old knees) and can just about do it if I have to although poor horsey looks like she might fall over!!
How wonderful - a REAL Thelwell pony, unfortunately you don't see too many of those around any more. I learnt to ride on one of those way back in the olden days!
I've got an idea. I'll buy the pony and use him as a mobile mounting block for my boy when out hacking. Just measured him today. 18.2hh and not yet 5 years old Going to need a crane to get it him as has grown 5 inches in 6 months and I'm told will keep growing till he is 8! And I'm only 5'4".
