anyone going to dogs unleashed?

Just wondering if anyone was planning to go to Dogs Unleashed in Bakewell next weekend? I've never been before and thinking about taking the troublesome twosome! (Gratuitous photos below!) has anyone been before?

Millie will have a fab time (she is so entering the happiest dog class in the fun show!) and will put her through the 'have a go' agility and flyball.

Suzy, I'm hoping will be able to control her exhuberant 'hello's' to all and sundry (we're working hard at the moment to stop her pulling and standing on her back legs on the lead every time we come accross another dog out walking) Ideally i'd like to do the agility with her too. I'm thinking of getting a halti or something similar to help control her a bit more - what do you think? and other advice? I tend to do the walking in the opposit direction which works to some extent.

Mee! I'm only 10 mins from Bakewell and missed it last year, so planning on getting organised to go this year!

I don't suppose you know how big it will be? Tink can cope with the amount of dogs at Agric. shows, game fairs, events etc, but I assume pretty much everyone will have a dog (or several!) so I don't know if it would be too much for her.

Still, its not far to pop home if she's being a pain!
 
I havent a clue how big it'll be - having same thoughts about how Suzy will cope (its over an hour from me). Looking at photos from last year there did seem to be a good turn-out!Fingers crossed Suzy will manage to behave! I'm hoping the sheer number of dogs there will have a positive effect and she'll quickly understand she doesnt need to say hello to everyone!
 
I'm going to do the Flyball Tournament. Will be there on the Sunday running in division 4. (first race 08.30 )

Will do, we're planning on comming up on Sunday! dragging my mum along as an extra pair of hands with the dogs!

Cant wait to see the Flyball, just hope I can control Millie, she'll definitely want to join in!
 
We'll be there, not sure which day yet, but fingers crossed if they get along we'll be bringing a new dog back home with us. :D

Also going to do the have-a-go agility for sure and I'll probably be roped in to helping on the SHWA stand. :)
 
Hopefully see you there then BC, maybe we could have an unofficial Have-a-go-agility HHO competition!?

Although Millie has probably forgotten everything (I know i have!)

Look forward to meeting you. Don't worry about your dog going wild--all the flyball dogs do! lol. They just love it so much.
 
Millie and I have dabbled in flyball and she is fantastic - only problem is she's too small to trigger the spring board for the ball, so she delecatley plucks it out and charges back! very cute! however, we have never done it withough netting down the edge - we'll definitely have a go on the have-a-go!
 
Goya - she's a small jack russell, very small (not technically a minature, but was the runt and has always been smaller than her litter mates), we have loads of tiny dogs doing it at the dog club that get on fine, but forwhatever reason Millie just doesnt get enough weight behind when she hits the box and so the ball doesnt pop out - maybe its the boxes we use? It doesnt matter, she manages just fine (although the tennis balls are quite huge in her mouth!)

You haven't missed anything, I haven't posted about it yet because I'm still in shock that it's actually happening and I didn't want to jinx it in case they hate each other at first sight! :p

We passed a homecheck for SHWA a couple of weeks back and they have a young piebald male, same age as Dax, that sounds a good fit for us. He lives way oop north but his foster mummy is bringing him to this event as SHWA are doing a charity stand, hug-a-husky stand and a display in the ring so we've arranged to meet him there. :D

So for all my griping on here about rescues and their restrictive rehoming policies I officially apologise, SHWA have been nothing but positive and fair throughout while still being wholly concerned with the welfare of the dogs. :)

New crate arrived today, my OH is going to kill me when he gets home, our living room looks like dog Alcatraz. :o
 
Fingers crossed for you BC (sorry completely missed that bit from your original post!) hope the new doglet works out for you!
 
If we're there on the same day as you Hedwards then it's game on for the agility ring. :D

If I am walking around with two dogs I might be looking slightly harassed, I'm told the new boy is good on the lead but to husky people that could mean anything, and I'm just not used to handling two anyway. :p
 
I think good on the lead for Huskies mean you get to keep at least one foot in contact with the ground some of the time:D:D Fingers crossed it works out!:)
 
Ok BC, deal!

Possibly the first time in history for Husky vs JRT in an agility ring!

I'll be the one pulling my hair out at my unruley JRT & Lurcher - you wont miss me!
