We’re off to the SJ at Chelsea this Friday. Not been before and was wondering if anyone else has been previously or is going this week? We thought it would be something different to try!

I’m going just for the Sunday afternoon for the GP. The jumping is usually very good but last year food was underwhelming and queues long.

We’ve been a few times - good things are you can get very close to the action, we usually spend lots of time watching the warm up, it’s quite a small site so you’re rubbing shoulders with all the showjumpers, plus it’s very easy to get there by public transport. Downsides are fairly meh trade stands (unless you want to spend ££££ on high end Italian riding gear) and long queues for expensive food.

Do you know if you can go off site for food and come back in? Or would that be too much hassle anyway?

I went last year for a day. The SJ was fab but the food was a bit average and it was hectic trying to get in and out. I’m not going this year because I’m competing and then helping others compete so it’s too much in one weekend for me.

I think it would be quite a hassle - there’s lots of places in Chelsea to eat and drink but they’re a decent walk away from the venue

Take a packed lunch? Sounds like a nice day out to get up close to the action.

Looks like we’ll buy something outside and take it in.
Looking forward to it as it’s something different we haven’t done before.
