Just wondered if anyone had got the Land Rover Discovery 5? We maybe just taking the plunge but worried it is such a new car about technical issues and have heard of some (will be buying an ex demo not brand new), and whether to get a Disco 4 instead. If you have one what are your experiences with it?

TIA

Love mine but I don't tow with it as have lorries so can't comment on that.

It's essentially the same as the Range Rover but a different body shape so I assume that any tech issues have already been dealt with. My disco drives just as well as my dad's RR.

Thanks for replying, we test drove one at the weekend and loved it. Just had heard of electrical issues with the sat nav etc. That's good to hear you like yours :D

Hiya, We have the Discovery 5 for around 4 months. There are some issues with it, firstly, after 4k miles 'service required' has popped up on the dash, although it is not due. It beeps when we get in to say the gearbox is not in park or handbrake not applied, when it is and finally tyre pressures are low when they are not and some other technical problems. All these are due to a software issue that LandRover are currently tackling. Ours is a '17' plate and Landrover have told us that the software update will fix it, however they tell us any models after '18' plate should not have these problems as they have ironed them out. (not that this helps us) As for towing, I have a Ifor 511 and it tows lovely even with my 2 boys on board. We had the Discovery 4 previously and personally I think they are both lovely to tow with and would still have been happy with our old disco 4. We have no regrets buying the car as Landrover have been extremely helpful in resolving the issues. I hope that helps... xx

Hi, thank you, that is really helpful, it will be a '17 plate we buy as we can't quite afford a brand new one. Can I ask, do you tow with the 2L or 3L? Just wondering if it is worth the extra money to pay for the 3L.

Hiya, yes, it is the 3L, V6. It tows really smoothly, so I am sure the 2L would also be just as good, I think our Disco 4 was 2.5L? xx
