My 'temporary' one is made of stacked breeze blocks we had spare.....never got round to getting the permanent one though and works fine!
Anyone got a home made mounting block? Pics and instructions would be helpful

I actually already have this in my kitchen! lol But unfortunately it's not high enough for me to get on my beast with!
How big is your horse?! I am 5 foot nothing and used it on a 17h horse!!

Just over 17hh, but i am also 5 foot nothing and have a stiff hip joint so find it hard to get my leg up sometimes
Whilst i love having a big horse, i will definitely be downsizing in the future for practical reasons! Jo_x

Be careful of using anything too flimsy... I had a foot go through a plastic stool when i was using it to get on my old share horse. It was stuck on my right foot so I obviously couldn't swing my leg over onto the horse, all my weight was on my left stirrup and the horse was big enough that I couldnt lean my weight over the horse to free my left foot and jump down. I managed to shake the stool loose, luckily the horse was fairly unflappable... I dread to think what might have happened had it been a youngster!
