Do you live near to Sandhurst?

Yeah he's away a lot so I'm kinda used to it now!

It's not 11 months for him? I think its more like 3? Must be different for the TA?

You must be new to having a partner going away and not being at home everynight. Well embrace it, think of all that time you can spend with the horses in the evenings, you don't have to tidy up everynight, and you can have a list of jobs waiting for him at the weekend that he can do when you go up to the horse!
My partner works away all week and has done for most of our time together apart from two years when he was based close enough to live at home during the week.
I guess it must be hard for some one who is not used to it with the separation for the first time, especially if you are always together now. I have grown up with my Dad being away lots and my partner being away, we chose to have a base that I could stay at and further my career instead of moving around every couple of years. He is happy with being away during the week as when he come home - it is home and its a long way from work. You do get used to it, and you will become very independant, but it is nice to have them home on leave and weekends, the only draw back is I comprimise a lot at weekends as he hates horses, I ride first thing in the morning at weekends, only compete once a month and only have 2 lessons a month on a saturday morning, so we can spend time together. Being apart will make your relationship stronger, with both your horse and your man!

Good luck to your fiancé at Sandhurst. A hard course these days. Long time since my husband was there.

I can't say I have ever really get used to him being away. We have been married 26 years this October. Lost count of the number of opperational tours/wars/excersies that he has done in the time that we have been together which is now over 31 years! Now on home number 21! We now have a base here in Lincolnshire which has made it alot easier as I have friends around and the horses. Living away for the first time from married quarters it is very diffrent. We just really enjoy the times we do get together.

If you want any further information or help PM me and I will do my best to answer if I can.
