Anyone got a Hyundai Santa Fe?

Anyone got one? Just wondering how it has coped with this snow and ice?

Am thinking of getting one - looked at that and the Kia Sorrento. Felt the Kia was a bit more 'plasticky' inside and preferred the feel of the Santa Fe.

Currently driving a new shape Mitsubishi L200 which has been ab fab in this ice, but it's 5 years old and done 70k so time to change methinks.
 
My trainer's got a Santa Fe. She loves it to bits. Tows her 17.2hh monster with ease. Has coped brilliantly with the snow and ice. Surprisingly economical to run. Nice, 'posh' leather interior. After seeing how happy she is with hers, I would not hesitate to buy one myself.
 
Yep I am looking at one for my next car - I have had a hyundai coupre for the past 6 years and its been seriously fab but it just not that practical in this weather or down dirt track roads etc

let me know if you purchase - hyundias are very reliable cars

dont get rid of the L200 - they are way better than santa fe's, i have the L200 and mum has a santa fe, mine is better by far...madness to get rid of l200 for a **** one! lol! x

Well I need to change as I said earlier, it's 5 years old and done 70000 and now has a few niggles - so time to change to something newer.

I don't want another L200 as I just find it too big for daily use - parking at work, parking at the supermarket etc. When we bought it we used to take our dogs out alot and so it was great for them to be in the back and completely separate from the cab especially as one of them gets car sick - but we rarely take them out in the car now and so I decided I want something a bit smaller.

I agree with you totally though - it has been - and still is - a fab car but it's time to change.
 
We've got a Santa Fe, it has been great so far. Pulls well and has coped with the snow and ice well too. My mum says that is a boring vehicle lol but dosnt have a bad word to say about it really. The only other trucks we've had before are: a Freelander which my mum hated, it was crap in every way possible and a Frontera which was so good - when in was going. It was usually broken tho.

Hmmm - haven't looked at them so will go and have a look - OH has found a nice Jeep Grand Cherokee online - we used to have one of those, before the L200, so might take a look at that.

Mitsubishi do an Outlander too which our friends have so might ask them how they're getting on with that.

Are there any partic reasons you don't rate the Santa Fe? Or is it just cos it's not as good as the L200 generally?

Just asked OH about the Shogun but he said it was designed in 2000 and is way behind the times compared to other 4x4's.

And the Outlander is too new for our budget to get a used one.

The Jeep he has seen is very low mileage (16,000) and is 2008, 3L diesel and a good price.
 
well mum has had nothing but problems with hers, the clutch went when it was just 8 months old , I just dont think its a true 4 wheel drive. much prefer the japanese. mine is a 54 plate L200
 
I think the santa fe is pretty good for the money and the fact you get a 5 year warranty with the hyundais. I wouldn't really go for the cherokee unless you have pots of money to keep the fuel going in - they are a lottle thirsty by all accounts? Do you need the 4x4 for towing or just for getting over all terrain and a day to day vehicle?

I had suzuki vitara (new shape) but just the 3dr DDis (diesel) model. It was absolutely brilliant in the snow and ice due to the low and high ratio gear box and diff lock. i only had to get rid of it to trade down as bought a house so neede to save the pennies (was paying on finance). I would still like to go back to one if i ever get any more money!

If you want a nice about town car that is also capable of towing then maybe the Kia sorrento or the santa fe would be the better options - a lot of gear for your money and the extended warranties.

We had a Grand Cherokee before - same model - and it wasn't too bad for fuel (diesel) - petrol would be very expensive I think.

I do need to tow - it's a working vehicle in our family - not a chelsea tractor!

I think I will have another look at the Sorrento and the Santa Fe before I decide - but the Cherokee is a very good deal - will sleep on it and won't do anything before the weekend anyway.
