My mum is seriously thinking of getting one and I was just wondering if anyone could tell me anything about them, especially how much they malt, how they get on with other dogs and whether they are 'clean' dogs. I know this is a massive generalisation, but I just want to get some honest feedback about them if possible please.

I'm not knowledgable on them at all, but my friend has one which she's looking to breed with.

Very fragile by the sounds of it though. He broke his leg falling down one step. But I guess that's refined breeds, they lack in other areas.

I have two Spitzes which are overgrown poms. Like all small dogs, they look very cute but they need training and proper exercise to keep them from becoming spoilt and unpleasant. They are surprisingly active dogs and will have a tendency to bark a lot. Properly socialised they should be fine with other dogs, I don't think there is anything particularly dog aggressive about the breed. They are long haired dogs so they will shed a lot more than a short haired breed. Not sure what you mean by 'clean' dogs. The long coat is perhaps more likely to get more dirty, especially if neglected, you may need to trim the hairs round the bottom to avoid any unpleasant accidents and they are as likely as any other dog to roll in fox poo given half a chance!

I have 2 German Spitz Kleins - a little bigger than a pom but not much.

They are fab little dogs - I agree with what Booboos says really.

Wouldn't be without them though, they are little stars - can be a bit yappy, but are active - mine did a 6 mile walk along the coast path last weekend and loved it. They get treated the same as the big dogs and run about the farm and go on the walks with them.

A friend had one, a lovely natured little boy he was.
Very long coat - at certain times of the year he covered me in long ginger hairs!
He also took a LOT of grooming. His temperament was second to none and he was happy doing anything.
Not sure about upkeep or anything but I can vouch for the fact there are brilliantly natured ones!! :)

ETA agreed with above, very capable of long walks! We took Ted round Blackpool one day and he walked all the way without a problem :)
