I'm interested in other people's experiences, are they really as good as the marketing says?

I have a normal treed saddle and a very high withered horse. I'm looking for something to help stop his saddle bridging as he comes back into work after box rest.

I was convinced until the bit about '20 stone men riding at sitting trot for eight hours'

That just seems ridiculous to me, I could well be talking rubbish and stand to be corrected, but, really?

Noooooooooooooo!!!!! I was recommended one of these pads for my older horse who's back is starting to drop, and I've been trying to get one on Ebay but been out-bid.... so now it looks like I'll have another 2 people trying to out-bid me then!!! :) :p

Yes I have one for a sway backed horse, yes they are excellent but you have to be careful to shake the cork out evenly (roughly) before each use.

The mare I use mine for used to constantly pull her head down and I was concerned her saddle was bridging, never ever does it with the suber pad on now.

Heather Moffat does a range of saddles with panels stuffed with suber cork too.

I don't know anyone who can ride sitting trot all day!!!

However, plenty of 20st men go out hunting all day. That is a life in the day of lots of horses unfortunately...

Yes I agree that's really silly!!?? But they have also been tested with the computerised pressure pads and are shown to be excellent for spreading pressure evenly.

I have one.

It is excellent, I haven't read all the blurb though so can't comment on that.

I have found mine excellent, the horses love it, I use it under my roller and treeless saddle, I have tried it under a treed saddle it the past and it certainly improved the fit.

I really can't think of a single saddle pad I rate as highly.

I borrowed one which my friend had, the numnah shaped one, and it was a bit of a nightmare!

My horse is only 14.2 but it took me about half an hour and numerous attempts to get on him as the saddle kept slipping badly when I tried to get on - using a block - and I had to keep putting the saddle back on and trying again as I was on my own. He is has a fairly round barrel but I have never had a problem mounting before.

It did seem to make the saddle sit better on him - he is an older boy with a slightly dipped back.

Once on I felt rather perched on top - I was using a treed saddle.

We went for a little hack and there was a real improvement in his canter. However after our little canter the suber pad started to slip out the back door and pull down on his withers, saddle stayed in place, despite me putting the girth through the girth loops.

I was glad I only borrowed due to the cost and was disappointed that due to the mounting / slipping issues it really wasn't suitable.

That sounds like my experience with one!

They could be vastly improved if they were shaped to follow the contours of the horses spine. Mine kept going flat on the withers and I too felt perched up.

I've never had a problem with mine slipping, I don't have the numnah shaped version though.

They do make the saddle sit a little higher, but no more than any other thick pad would and you soon become adjusted to the difference :)

I've got one and they are good, but you do need to be careful to make sure they have settled before doing activities that involve leaning out

I am going to pop mine on ebay shortly as its now too small for stock saddles and I need a bigger version.
