Has anyone got one of these? I have got one for my very round cob and its been fitted by a saddler. However it seems to slip to the left and right a bit when im riding. I am using the middle two girth straps should I be using the first and last? Also what girth do you use with them? Thanks!

You shouldn't be using the middle two girth straps, either use the first and third or first and fouth.

I have the T4 but always use the first and forth, that’s what the forth strap is there for, like a balance strap. My saddler told me this is correct.

I use a stubben cord girth with my Thorowgood cob saddle.

I use the 2nd and 4th girth straps.

My saddle fitter advised me 1st and 4th straps to stop the saddle rolling from side to side. 1st and 3rd to stop the saddle slipping forward and 2nd and 4th to stop the saddle slipping back.

If you look on the TG website it tells you which girthing options to use for different saddles/problems, however it may be that your saddle simply is not fitting correctly, or perhaps your cob has un even muscle (stand on a bucket behind him stood on level ground, stood square and have a look down his spine and across his shoulder/wither area) you may need to insert a fish.

Assuming the saddle fits, use first and last strap and a non elasticated girth. Make sure you get on from a block and that you are sitting straight. If the saddle still moves then get the fitter back out to looking at flocking it differently as your horse may be asymetrical. If the saddle was fitted a while ago you should have it checked again anyway
