Anyone got an ingenious idea for non steal-able mounting block?

I just use and 4 step step ladder now
And chain it To gate
I did have old pieces of tree trunk but someone nicked them for fire wood I expect couldn't think of any other excuse why some one would nick wood
 
We have 3 railway sleepers on top of each other, each one shorter than the one underneath so they are like steps.
Ours are permanently fixed into a sort of raised flower bed thing, but I don't see why you couldn't just have 3 free standing, they are stable enough.
 
We have some of those wire mesh cages, that you fill with rocks and stones, like they use for retaining walls next to motorways etc. Once filled, they are too heavy to pick up, but can be emptied again if you wanted to move them, and they still look nice. We thought they were a great idea!

Great idea, where do you get the metal cages from?! :D
 
take 1 round plastic drum, cut in half with angle grinder, screw cross bars made out of left over bits of 4x2 wood, drill 2 holes in the side and then poke rope through & know hey presto one mounting block, non slip, round no holes for your horse to put its leg through completley moveable and fab height to get on good surface area love mine it goes everywhere. Breeze blocks perhaps seem most stable, and easy to take with us when we move.

Would love a nice rustic log one, or a proper cemented brick one, one day when own my own house maybe!

The block needs to look like junk that no one wants randomly dumped on the drive. Had a recycling bin nicked (food waste one) which is why am not wanting to leave annything to nice on drive! :mad:

Spread breeze blocks with dung, so they're too yucky for someone to nick. It'll be ok when it dries, perhaps you can keep an old piece of plastic over it to protect from wet weather ( or perhaps thieves would be encouraged to look and see what's hidden there?) Anyway, it's a thought.
