My black mare Cruz is by Cruise on which is by Cruising and im pretty sure either Cruz or Spider (cant remember which one!!) has clover hill lines.

Both very very nice horses and easy to do. And Cruz is the boldest horse ive ever owned!! And a real trier

Have ridden more than my fair share. Both tend to produce very scopy talented youngsters, also tend to have nice paces (particularly for irish horses!) Clover Hill can have serious attitude problems (I.e I say no and I mean no!) and Cruisings can be a bit sharp; but I would say a horse with both of those lines would be serious quality!

most of ours have that breeding sharp but good horses, jonty is related to him in sum way and she has been round an intermediate height course and is the ultimate xc machine...

we now have crusing breeding in all the broodmares not there dad but its in there somewhere lol so that puts that in their youngstock they are very hopeful horses althrough can be very naughty and tricky

Thanks for your replies girls!

Badger hasn't got a naughty bone in his body but can be quite sharp for the big lump he is!

He also takes a while to get the hang of things - but when he does he is amazing!

He still seems to be growing and developing at 8. I totally ADORE him - can you tell!

Mine is by Cruising out of Breffni Clover who is by Clover hill.
He could have done any discipline asked of him. Paces are good and he has a serious jump.
Temp wise he is generally level headed and compliant 90% of the time. The other 10% he does strange things completely out of character such as sudden spook (he's not spooky). Standing on back legs when leading to field (doesn't rear under saddle) etc. Nothing really bad, just out of character.
he doesn't have a nasty bone in his body.

lucky you, that's great breeding.
both lines produce serious jumping horses. a lot of Clover Hill horses were bay, a little bit long in the back, slightly quirky at times, but they all really jumped. Cruisings are very often grey, and the jump's phenomenal.
he looks lovely.

Hi

I don't normally come on her as it's my daughter, Hattikins playground, but but fascinated to read your description 4faulter. Hattie is by Cruising Ambassador out of a Ballinvella mare and is exactly as you describe your boy. She's 90% perfect, lovely paces, wow of a jump and extremely level headed for 6yo but 10% occasionally wacky and will for no apparent reason stand on her back legs (only in hand fortunately), not spooky but will once in a while do a huge spook (all 4 legs 4 feet off the ground) and then bronce for England then recover as if nothing has happened! We were warned that Cruising lines had a reputatation for being sharp, but she's not a difficult to ride at all and is a very easy to teach.

Hattikins has recently been schooling a mare by Clover Hill - she had serious issues bordering the downright dangerous. No definitely meant 'no' with her. We have since been told they can be very difficult. I've also been told that Primitive Rising's progeny can be a handful too.

My boy is by clover brigade(sire) out of clover hill(grandsire)
he is fab the most level headed youngster ever is only 5 at the mo and will deal with anything. he jumps brilliantly- clearing our 4 1/2 ft fences and gates easily(not with me on boqard i might add!) his showjumping is coming on v well and so far he hasn;t spooked at any of the fillers etc. am preparing fro intro next year and happily jumping 3ft at the mo with him. dressage is prob the weakest but only due to babyness, he has lovely paces just needs more polishing.

There are a lot of horses over here by Cruising, they are usually grey, fantastic jumpers and very sharp and have a tendency to rear. I know the girl who used to groom for Cruising when he was competed internationally and she said he was a real poser! Some of the my favourite Cruising horse who are showjumping internationally are World Cruise, Mo Chroi and River Foyle. My own mare is out of a mare who was by Sea Crest (Cruisings sire). Clover Hills are also very good jumpers, and have very good temperments.

Badger is by Clover Brigade too!!

It's really interesting to here about everyones experiences!! I'm quite surprised that they can be quite difficult because Badger is so chilled 99% of the time and is not stubborn at all!!

Thanks for your replies everyone!

I had a Clover Brigade mare who was an amazing jumper, hunted all day, jump ANYTHING but very sadly developed a rather lage ringbone and splint on the same leg (she fell over in a shallow ditch after jumping out of her field to see the yearlings!) So was sadly retired to be a broodmare- she was very stubborn in hand but an angel under saddle.
Also groomed for a lady with one of Clover Hills last who was very talented intermediate eventer but in the stable he would savage you most of the time and for no reason at all!

Cat in my avatar was by Cruising. Huge jump but could be very spooky schooling up the field or hacking. Adrian is by Coevers Diamond Lad by Clover Hill & is so laid back you sometimes feel you should check for a pulse, & he's only 5. He's doing BD/BSJA.
