Just been looking at the short ladies wellies and they look nice - but why so pricey ? The description reads like a perfectly normal Wellington so £90 seems bit steep. So, anybody got them ? If so, are they worth the money ? Thanks

I wear wellies all day with the horses and on the farm so wear out wellies very quickly and have tried out several makes and types. The Chameau are comfortable, soft and dont last as long as the Hunter Balmoral which are a heavier wellie but very comfortable to wear and seem to last the longest! They are normally slightly cheaper if you shop around

I have (full length, neoprene lined Le Chameau, cost £95). They have lasted 2 years before being knackered with several splits. Not great, but given that Hunters were consistently lasting only 3-4 MONTHS before doing the same, (cost about £50 as they werent neoprene lined) I still think Le C is the better option. NB I am in them all day every day and we are in the Cairngorms so pretty tough conditions.

Hunter Balmorals may be better than the Hunters I bought numerous time before giving up- but they would have to be a lot more in order for me ever to consider buying a pair of hunters again, their reputation is zero among farmers.

I would consider spending the money on Le C, the rubber quality and build quality is a lot better than most makes. No guarantees these days tho!

I am on my 2nd pair of Le Chameau in 10 years - I tend to get 5 years of pretty consistent use out of them.

The quality of the rubber is much better, but the real reason for Le Chameau is that they support your feet and ankle properly. If you wear wellies all the time this is important ...... you put pressure on your knees and tendons (and therefore hips) over time by wearing poor footwear.

I know, my farmer neighbour recently snapped his achilles tendon (more than painful) - the physio said a huge contributory factor was that he had always worm cheap throw away wellies which hadnt supported his feet and the bad long term consequences of his body are huge.)

I have neoprene Le Chameaus. Keep my feet lovely and warm. I have had Hunters previously but they kept splitting. They were normal ones thou, not the Balmorals.

mine are nearly 9 years old and still going! Do leak a little now but I think I've had my money's worth lol
mine are the full zip neoprene ones, the only wellies I can wear without getting chillblanes!

I have the neoprene lined ones & so far so good, v comfy to walk in & nice & toasty.

My OH has the super fancy leather ones with zips & have lasted him way longer than any other welly he has had & still good as new :D

I have the leather lined Le Chameau wellies, I wear them everyday and they are 10 years old. The rubber is just starting to split, will definitely be getting another pair. Well worth the money :)

I bought my second pair recently after my original ones dies after 10 years! I've got the neoprene lined ones and really do think they are worth every penny.

I've had several pairs of the neoprene lined ones and the outlast lined ones but they all have split across the arch of my foot - perhaps just the way I walk? I've now got the neoprene lined Aigle ones and as well as being slightly cheaper they've lasted longer :)

I have always been a Chameau Wellies BUT I think they have seriously declined since changing their factory. My first pair lasted me 8 years. I still have them as summer wellies as they are so comfortable. My next pair were shocking and a lot of my friends have also had problems with the quality. I now recommend the Aigle Neoprene Wellies which are still made in France and are yet to be moved to an Asian factory. There seems to be a problem with lots of brands losing their quality when they move their factories.

I have the chasseur le chameau's leather lined & I use a sheepskin insole for extra toastiness. Had them 6 years & live in them for the winter. Not a single problem yet. They were expensive but are lasting the test of time.

They are expensive but worth every penny! Had always had Hunters and a pair never saw me through a winter. Now on my third winter with these and still going strong :)
