Anyone Got Spare 5Mins For Some CC Please?

Only watched the BN as the vid is jerky on my comp and it's making my eyes ache!

You look to be getting the right leg correct lots more now which seems to be really helping your rounds, nice round!

The over-riding thing that struck me throughout and stopped it being a better round was that she looked to be really resiting your hands - do you have a strong bit in? I wouldn't be happy with a head carriage like that all round (and as you go higher then it will increase your chances of taking a pole out) and I don't think it will do her back any good long term. I would rethink your bitting and try alternative ways of getting her back to you/more flatwork/grids, I think then you could actually wind up with faster but with smoother more responsive rounds. How do you ask her to come back to you atm? I wonder if you are locking your hands rather as a reaction to her rushing on? But she puts her head up away from the pressure and rushes on anyway? A gentle and smooth but quick take and release would be more effective I think and give her much less to run against. Worth practising on the flat first to get her responding correctly to the aid first, then use it sj if you want her back to you. She will need to be off her forehand for it to be effective though, otherwise you might find she still rushes on abit if her balance isn't good.

Hth, things really seem to be going in the right direction, getting these important basics just perfect now will really set you in good stead as you go up higher.

your jumping position is perfect!

the only thing i picked up on was heavy seat and hands as you fought each other most of the way around, so i'd say biggest thing would be working on bringing her back to you and a more relaxed head carriage so you can more confidently have lighter hands and seat.
:)

thank you, shes in a 3 ring gag normaly on the snaffle but my YO said we should put it on the next one down cause she was being very foward and strong and she seemed to stick her head up alot so i was maybe wondering if the poll pressure was maybe too much for her? but then again i have breaking issues somedays if she is being strong in the snaffle ring? x

thank you :) will work on it :D x

About a thousand times better! Really improving. I only watched a bit too as it wasn't loading on my laptop, but you look a tad tense? I think you may be setting against her a little, you want to make sure your contact is there, but still elastic and giving. Also, I think, from the little bit I did watch, when you're on a dodgey stride (I do this too ;)) you lean forwards. Think about keeping your shoulders backed off the fence, to allow her to lighten her forehand and lift off when she's not quite on the right stride. Does that make any sense? But the rhythm is much, much better :D

Even one ring down will give alot more poll pressure. I don't think it is that as such that is the prob, more that it is 'on' iyswim all the way through your round, rather than you asking then her responding and the pressure being removed. Try and loosen your hands and elbows even if you feel she is rushing, and bring her back with a half halt. Out of interest, is it a single joint? Most horses will put their head up in a single joint as it jabs in the roof of their mouth - not helpful when you want them to see the jumps!

JessandCharlie, thank you :) yes that does make sense will try remeber for sunday :D
Thepony. will try that too :) thanks and no its french link? :) x

Then I think she must just be resisting the pressure - I would really practise a half halt to bring her back to you - you can practise it in trot from a good forward trot to bring her back for a corner, then work on it in canter. I think when she responds nicely to it you should have a much smoother round, and an easier time for you too!

I have to agree with "ThePony" I think if you were alot more relaxed, lighter and "allowing" then she would go alot nicer as it seems to be a constant fight around the course. The decrease in pressure would also equate to nicer jumps as she seems to get very deep into fences but scope gets helps out.

Can see a vast amount of improvement though, well done!

I too only watched the first round but it looks like you are riding behind the horses movement. If i were you i would ask my trainer to work more towards geting me balanced with the horse, and riding her between hand and leg. If you dont have this then it does not matter what bit you have in her.:)

Thank you, ill try it out when i ride tomorrow and see how it goes :D
thanks you :) yeah iv started having more lessons now its lighter so hopefully can get it sorted soon and iv been told that iv behind the horse in lessons too :) x

Just watched your video (: Really nice horse and forward going, i've read through your post and do you have a bubble gag on? As to make this work properly a flash strap on the top ring (the ring the cheek pieces go on) would mean you could ride less on your hands, also maybe putting her in a bit like just a plain snaffle with draw reins at home hacking and flat would make the neck more supple (:
Hope this helps!
