Anyone got the Gatehouse HS1 hat?

i'm treating myself to a new hat for a new season, wondered whether the Gatehouse is comfy, before i trek all over the countryside to try one on. i can't work out how people buy hats online - i know my size, but the hats can be different shapes, so i'd always want to try a few.
if anyone has one, is it good please? thankyou.
 
Love mine!! l am a one and a half in all hats and this fits me perfectly,you must get one!!!

Yes - I LOVE IT! Best skull I have ever owned! Suspect it saved my life when I fell on my head at Goring. On my third one now! (First one trashed at Goring, second one the buckle jammed and they replaced no quibble!)
 
I don't want to put a spanner in the works but it does depend on the shape of your head

!), anyway, it was not the most comfortable thing to put on my head. I think my head is more oblong than round

and the HS1 is a very round shape (if that makes sense?), the hat just felt a bit 'wrong' the more I wore it. I now wear a Charles Owen J3 and it fits like a glove

. Try and try one on before you order one....you never know, you maybe able to join the 'odd shaped head clique'!!!

i have one and absolutely love it and it fits me perfectly but then i dont fit many hats as i have a very round head and quite a few hats are long and narrow but this is round so perfect for me. definately try one though because if it fits you you will probably find it very comfy.
 
Kerilli - ring your local tack shop - the stockist list on their website is fearsomely out of date and I drove miles out the way to get mine....then found my local place had them in all along - they still aren't listed as a stockist!
 
I've got one and I love it. I had the J3 before, which fitted me really well so if the J3 fits you then I think the HS1 will too.
 
Ohh, I was gonna treat myself to one too!!! Also just need to find somewhere that sells em so I can try one on!!!!
 
I'm in the odd shaped head category too! Had one bought for me for Christmas and unfortunately have ummed and ahhed too long with it to return it but it really isn't comfortable. Worn it to ride 2 or 3 times and got a thumping headache - but I'm sure it's a head shape thing as otherwise it's lovely. I can swear it hasn't been bashed if anyone wants a cheap 1 1/2?? Know it's unlikely I'll be able to sell it though. If you can't find a local stockist many online ones will let you try and then return if it doesn't fit - surprised me but they will

Not sure what to do know because my old one needs replacing but tried a J3 the other day and that felt really shallow after the gatehouse and champions just don't fit me
 
I have just got mine from Old dairy saddlery with 20% off I ordered the 2 as that is what my last skull was a 2.5 (don't ask!) Any how my head id oval (Odd head clique Sneedy!)
Anyhow I ordered the 1.5 aswell & it fits near on erfect welll it will when it beds down with the padding. No gaps at the side like the 2 was!??
Goes figures!
But if you get from them check it over as the 1st 1.5 had great scratches in the front crown!?? So I sent it back & they replaced & refunded my carriage of returning it!
 
oh, that's interesting. hmm. Wiz, i might be very interested in yours then, if they come up 1/2 a size big...
what events are you going to? maybe we could meet up somewhere and i could try it? i'm a bit dubious about entrusting hats to the dear old Post Office...
or, i could pay for your postage if you'd pack it really well, and if it didn't fit, i could send it back (or let my friend try it if she's interested, maybe?)
just a few ideas.

I actually have a full 1 size smaller than my last hat!?? My head has shrunk! Well there wasn't that much usefull in there to start with!!
When the size 2 came I rang them & said it's too big if I order the 1.5 to compare is that OK & they said yes keep which ever is best or send them both back!
 
Kerilli - Could do either of those. Events - I'm at Munstead and will be helping at Goring. Or if you were at tweseldown at the weekend ! could get there.
Posting wise I can get packing stuff from work - just have to wait for something to be sent to us with excess packing!!
