anyone got their horses out?

Yes, Archies out. Left him very content after eating a lovely tea and munching on his hay to be rounded off with a lovely bucket of tepid water.

He is bright eyed, snug as a bug in his rug and living out means he won't climb the walls trying to get out of his stable, which he doesn't like much at all.

I sometimes wish I could keep him in, all snuggled, but that would be more for me and not him. He doesn't mind living out one bit and his good health is proof of that.

Yup! Both of mine are out. The oldie (ISH x WB) has a HW Rambo supreme on, and the 9 year old WB has a HW rhino plus on. Both have a hayhutch full of haylage to keep them warm & neither like to be in.

Yes, they're all out. They're always out. No matter what. When the grounds hard like this I often think it better than sloppy mud.

most of mine still out. they dont want to come in!!! got a couple of poofs and elderly in just to give them a break from weather but they dont seem best pleased. as long as they have plenty of hay/haylage and a good water source they will be fine. i beleive its a human thing wanting them tucked up inside. i feed mine some bucket food every day .. they are all fat, shiny, happy and rugged as req.

I have 2 living out and 1 stabled overnight, Their routine has not been changed, TBH I would rather give up keeping a horse than keep it on a yard with TO forbidden in the winter. They are animals meant to live outdoors and be on the move.

Mine wasn't exactly put out, just wasn't brought in (normally in at night). Yard was so icy I figured a few nights out were preferable to a fall on concrete. She is warm as toast and tucking into her hay hutch last night and this morning, so now staying out till the snow goes.

Ours were all left in today. We'd normally put them out in this weather with a bit of hay, but because the ground has been frozen so long it's now incredibly hard. We have heavy clay soil, so all of the pitting that the horses have made has frozen solid, so tons of deep holes and corresponding 'pointy bits', and they all came in quite footsore yesterday, particularly the older mare with arthritis.

We'll re-evaluate tomorrow though, because we'd rather have them out if we can.

Mine are out and were naked up to about an hour ago...

Stopped by at next door to see if they needed any shopping (snowed in) and they announced that they had been into the fields earlier to check on the horses as it was cold and I wasn't there. My reply was "oh so it was you who left the gate open and let the horses out onto the road!" and prompty removed my offer of shopping for them. Bl**dy idiot!!! I also pointed out they had fur coats on and wouldn't turn into icicles ;)
