My clipped boy has a rug on but my hairys im thinking of leaving naked they had rugs on for the rain lastnite whats everyone else doing now its si hard to judge what to do with them.

Mine are out without rugs during the day if it's not raining. They are both moulting like mad so am trying to encourage lots of rolling to get rid!

None are clipped and all naked.

UNLESS it turns REALLY cold again (-3-ish etc) then no more rugs! All are moulting like mad, in the greys paddock, the birds are fighting each other to gather up the fluff that comes off after each roll!

Mine have got L/Ws on in day and L/W stable rug on at night but they are both clipped. Their coat is just starting to come through so if it warms up this week then it will be no rugs in the day! If they weren't clipped then rugs would have been off weeks ago!

My good doer hasnt had a rug on all winter - and we have -10 in the daytime in winter.....and she aint skinny come spring! (muzzle on already!)

My big veteran however did have a rug on when it was wet or cold and windy. But he has come out of the winter porkier than he should be!

Unclipped horses who are good doers dont need rugging.

So yes, unrugged now!

Clipped horses are a different matter and rugging is fair enough if it is wet or cold

My Anglo arab youngster and TB are now out of their rugs. They were not clipped but have very fine coats. Our weather has been very mild though, and they were begging to be freed!!! Blumming TB managed to be missing nice chunk of mane halfway down her neck, she has soft chesnut hair and a neck cover but rubbed it off scratching on a branch

My hairies are naked unless v cold & wet. My clipped boy (all clipped bar a half pad shape on his back) is rugged in & out but when I'm at the yard & it's sunny he gets a quick 1 hr or so out without!

Most of our herd is out naked and has been for the last week. Checked on the knobber mare as thought it might be a bit cold for her mid week and she surprised me by being toasty warm. Unless it turns really cold here the rugs will stay off now

All ours are naked now and quite happy. The TB and warmbloods have all come out of the winter looking really well and were getting a little too warm. I'm not sure they will stay off, will have to see what happens over the next few weeks.

still dropping off quite cold during the night here so the biggies are still in MW's, the loan horse came to me a bit ribby so keeping him rugged while a get some weight back on him, the big girl i do admit to rugging at this time purely because she is a grey and likes to apply a full body mudpack at any opportunity:rolleyes: once the ground is dry enough to be rolled it's dry enough for her to be unrugged:p

My chunky ISH still has his rug on as he's dropped off quite a bit over winter and i cannot afford for him to loose any more weight. However, on the warmer days he has been naked in the daytime!

My tb isn't clipped but as its been chilly the last few nights hes had a fleece on. He goes out naked unless it is raining then he has a lw rug on.

My boy has been out without a rug during the day for a while (if it is dry and not really cold). He is a cob (blanket clip) and is shedding hair like mad. When I brought him in from his field one day last week (it was sunny but a bit cold) my YO was there and was shocked he was unrugged. He will be freezing she said and touched the end of his ears and said told you he'd be cold!! I tried not to laugh at her and said, yes the ends of his ears will always be cold, but feel at the base and he is toasty warm. She just didn't get it. I now understand why her poor welsh pony was wearing three rugs in her stable in the winter and sweating. Experienced she may be..but obv no common sense :(

My knabbie has had her rug off for 3 weeks now - she is not clipped as she's a youngster - shedding her winter coat like mad and loves a good roll - happy girly but can't wait for dry weather and summer coat dislike chewing grit and hair when grooming.

Sometimes experience is just one year of knowledge thirty years out of date....:-D

Good on you, you know you are right on this and so does Mr Cob!

Mine are unclipped and unrugged, have been since the warm spell. They are malting like mad and I did offer rugs last night as knew it was going to be chilly but they all turned heads and walked away so they have told me!!!

My pony is chaser clipped and has been unrugged for the last week - he is moulting alot on his hairy parts. He lives out and if he gets a bit cold he can move about a bit more to keep warm, which might be good for him as he is still fatter than I would like coming into spring.

Yep clipped and unrugged! Fluff is coming out in clumps and there are white roll patches all over the field. He's still in at night but without his rug also. He's looking mighty fine and slim at the moment!

Out with nothing unless it's chucking it down and then only a rain sheet. I did briefly ponder putting one on this am as riding later but decided to leave it so may regret it later but it's more for my convenience than him needing it xx

I've got one who has already got it's summer coat through  and a fully clipped cob - they both have a lightweight stable rug on at night.
The midget pony is also fully clipped, however i play that one by ear as if she gets too warm she'll itch like crazy :(

Chaser clipped chunky boy is out naked during the day and in naked at night. Only putting no fill lw turn out on if rain forecast to last full days. He seems fine and loves having a good roll with no rug on to scrub all that hairy winter coat off.

Very hairy native 22yo has been unrugged for the past month or so. Wimpy 17yo trace-clipped TB is just wearing a med. weight (no neck) as his mane is suffering the effects of being rugged up all winter!!

Still rugging up at night when they come in and a lightweight on in the day when out.
Is still cold and wet here but i know some parts of the country have a hose ban...i'll quite happily send a puddle to those who need it.

Looking forward to them going out naked in the sun...if it still exists!!
