Anyone had a lesson with Arthur Kottas

My sister has trained with him. He's predictably very good but she prefers Charles De Knuffy, Arthur can be a little light of words. He gets results though and if you have the chance to train with him, I doubt many people would turn it down!!

I have some footage of one of her lessons somewhere, shall try to dig it out.

He comes out to Spain a lot and if I can be BRUTALLY honest (and don't shoot me), he actually didn't say anythign different to other good trainers I know and he did the EXACT same thing with all horses regardless. I'm sorry but wouldn't pay to go to him rather than my trainer.

I had the same experience going watching Rafael Soto train some riders. Didn't say anything different. I like a trainer to actually explain the logic behind what you are doing and why it should not /does not work with all horses.!

I think you share the opinon of many people I've spoken to- it seems the name and his riding skills dont transfer into fantastic teaching ability. He did help our luso stallion though, he had a couple of tricks up his sleeve which helped his paces.

The way that they are taught in the Spanish Riding school is very much like that tho, everything is the same. You only ahve to see the performances to see that! And he was charging a small fortune so I was invited as one of the better riders in the area and I said No.

I am becomming a much much more rounded rider having training with my guy who makes every lesson different and shares all sorts of tips and bits of wisdom with me.

Thanks for your opinions, I think I may give his clinic a miss then, as I get really frustrated when an instructor does really texplain to you exactly where you're going wrong.

Thanks x
