They seem quiet expensive for very young inexperienced horses. Both of the broken horses look hollow in the side on trotting pictures so look like they need alot of schooling and bringing on?
I havnt had any experience or heard of anyone who has but 'buyer beware' is all I will say.
I purchased my mare from a dealer mentioned on here not so long ago and I had a really good experience with them and was a little upest to hear how every one was discrediting them. Not all dealers are crooks and chinese whispers do occur amongst the horsey set which is a shame as most of them are untrue?! Its unfortunatle that dealing horses carries such a stigma.
Arrange a veiwing and go with your eyes wide open!!
P4NN, I agree that not all dealers are bad, some times people are lucky in that they by the rareity - a good horse from a bad dealer.
I bought a horse from some dealers who have a bad rep and he is a absolute cracker - however I think i was probabley lucky - I do not think that the majority of people can be wrong.
Equally, the horse I bought before my curent one was from a v dodgy dealer. I was experienced and went in with my eyes open and got everything written down but was still totally and utterly done.
In most cases dealers buy horses from each other at auctions and markets and have very little knowledge of the true history of the horses they are selling. Clearly it is in their interest to sell them as quickly as possible with the largest profit margin that they can achieve. There are also a lot of chancers out there who sell the occasional horse and come under the umbrella of dealers.
I advise people to buy horses locally where they have the opportunity of trying out the horse a number of times and locals know the true history and character of the horse concerned.
Always take a knowledgabe person with you and get a written receipt which states that the person (s) selling you the horse is a dealer and includes details of the horses soundness and character so that you at least have some come back. Always have the horse vetted and the bloods tested.
