Hi

I'm asking this for a friend who is stressing so much about her IVF treatment and not riding. I wanted to offer some help but don't know if she should be riding so - Is anyone out there who has been through this and can give advice. PM if not wanting to discuss on line.

I don't think I would ride if I had IVF to be honest. And I'm an advocate for keeping well exercised whilst pregnant.

I have just had a failed ivf treatment

I was told that I could ride as long as I was sensible, but no riding in the 2 week wait (after egg transfer) I was fine riding but as my follicles got bigger it got a bit uncomfortable. I was told to be more careful near the end of the stimming but I rode up everyday until the day before egg collection.

Tell you friend to ride and enjoy the riding while she can. If she is lucky enough for the treatment to work she won't be allowed to ride for the next 9 months so jump on and make the most of it

Good luck to your friend xxx if she has any questions she is more than welcome to pm or email me xxx

Im pregnant and midwife has said that i can ride up until 20 weeks of pregnancy, aslong as im sensible and dont ride something mental lol

Having been through IVF many times myself (sadly not successfully) there is no way I would take the chance of riding in the two week wait or in fact during the pregnancy.

Had I not been through this and got pregnant naturally I would never have thought of stopping riding but I really feel if you haven'y been through it you can have no way of understanding.

IVF is extremely expensive and very traumatic and there will be a limited number of opportunities for this person to get pregnant and stay pregnant.

Most people get a chance to conceive every month and take this for granted. It is just not worth doing anything during this time which you could at all blame yourself for if the outcome is negative.

I hope your friend gets through this with a happy outcome.

I totally agree, my friends have all ridden during their pregnancys and I am really jealous that they have the choice to do that. When you have had ivf its a totally different kettle of fish and you have to be that much more careful.

Personally I would not take any risks at all and I was stongly advised not to ride during the 2ww and def not if the treatment had worked.

Good luck to your friend, I am sure she will be lucky xxx
