no :(
colored trotter type mare had a plain foal on a teather in the middle of a housing estate at approx 10 weeks old it became clear it was not feeding/unwell
despite numerous calls they left it to die

another horse escaped from its tether ,the daft police man called to deal with it (was found on the side of busy main road) tied a rope around its neck at one end and to a lamp post at other because the rspc useless wouldn't help
luckily a friend came across the horse as it slipped on the road panicking and managed to get the rope so tight it would have died if they didn't cut it loose

the rspca still wouldn't help despite the fact the horse was quite badly injured due to scrapping its eye on the road and a lot of other damage to her legs
happily those who found her tracked down the owner and they were able to keep the horse as the owner didn't want to pay the vet bill for her back
she healed well and is now happy and healthy

i did once have quite a laugh at them as they turned up at my door to see a "dead dog" in a bin liner in my back yard ,my "alive" dog welcomed them in :D and i gladly showed them the back yard were lay a bin liner with a giant stuffed toy lion hanging half out of the bag

to be fair it did look a little dodgy and she looked horrified when she first looked out but felt a bit of a fool when she realised esp seen as i cleaned him up and sent him to them as a gift to raffle to raise money ;)
nice to know they responded that time though

Recently (on a Sunday), a dog was killed outside my studio. A studio member phoned the RSPCA & they told her to take it to the tip. I said that it could be micro chipped; eventually we got through to someone in the council & they said they would collect it in the morning, check for chips & freeze it.

The post mentioning the guinea pigs made me recall a TV programme where the RSPCA Inspector recommended that all pet guinea pigs were neutered. This appalled me (I like the OP used to breed them). Putting a small animal like that through major & for them risky surgery is extremely cruel when all that is needed are separate cages. That reinforced my opinion of them & that they are not that aware of animals & one rule fits all.

I'm afraid my opinion of the RSPCA is so low you have to dig for it. I called them out once, due to someone using a shock collar on a dog - she was just shocking it over and over again and the poor thing was terrified. The RSPCA did visit, granted, but did.... absolutely nothing. I know this not because the RSPCA told me, but because they managed to tell the person my (confidential) details so they could send me a gloaty email telling me that the RSPCA couldn't stop them.

A friend used to be a policeman, and he found that the RSPCA were less than useless for any case that wasn't absolutely straight forward.

They're not getting a penny from me, ever. There are far more deserving charities.
