It really seems the flavour of the month, and I am beginning to feel quite guilty about not feeding it to my horses. It really can't be that magic can it? What sort of horse doesn't it work for?

I was wondering this too as my horse has a few issues that would really benefit from her being fed it but at the same time I'm slightly skeptical.

My friend feeds it to her horse and she says there is an amazing difference but I can't see it?? But then I don't care or ride for her every day so wouldn't notice as much as she would.

Thing about it is it's not a new potion. Neither is linseed. Just things that got passed by as time went on. Linseed used to be a staple of equine diets until big feed took over. Quite ok to follow their claims blindly. And Turmeric has been around for thousands of years. It's cheap and not some specially packaged expensive supplement to go and buy. If it doesn't work so be it but in all the readings I've seen it won't cause problems.

And digestion. I'm skeptical but giving it a go, one week and counting so far. Jury still out, it's for joints. My other creaky chap is on riaflex and has been for a month. I think he's improving. But that took longer than a week to show.

It's an anti inflammatory. It also stimulates mucus production and is therefore thought to help with ulcers. Currently it's being studied also in conjunction with chemotherapy for cancers if the GI tract. I used to feed it to my Shetland for arthritis. Recently started feeding it again and Henry has turned into a curry loving lively boy (in a good way) and Chloe was noticeably calmer after the last two shoots. She was showing signs of gut trouble again, which is why I reintroduced it after 5 years!

Started on it about 2 weeks ago for hind leg stiffness, instructor commented on how well he was moving last wednesday, best she's seen him.
I didnt mention to her about feeding turmeric and what I was hoping to achieve, so hers was a completely unbiased view. For my cob, it does seem to be working, had another lesson today and he was fab, so I'm really pleased :)

Didn't do anything noticable for my boy, tried him on it last year but have still got some left so might try again, if nothing else but to use it up!

I can't believe none of the equine feed or supplement companies have cottoned onto this yet, and started marketing their own version in a tub, with a nice picture of a horse on the label, and increased the price by ten or even twentyfold. Surely it can only be a matter of time ...............

No difference in my lad I have noticed. Although he has just been to vets for re check on fungal infection in sinus and has been given the all clear. So may have helped with that- who knows!

I am trying it on my gelding who has a few sarcoids Have only been using it a few days Can't really believe that it will get rid of them but is cheap enough to give it a try & see what happens. Mind you he is either having a "Kevin" stage or it is making him have a few "silly" moments.

Hi, I started taking it myself in sheer desperation as i was taking too many prescribed drugs for arthritis, diabetes, graves disease and psoriasis . I was given the nod on a facebook group and decided to give it a go with the proviso if it worked for me then the animals can have it. I noticed an immediate effect and havent taken painkillers since, the psoriasis has gone and i have lost weight aswell.
I have been giving it to the dogs nd horses ever since. We bake cookies and the animals have however we feel they need each day. Sometimes you need to keep increasing to find an effect. Some ponies need a teaspoon twice a day some need a cup . Some of the photos on the Turmeric User Group are stunning at the difference it has made . I think if you read the details on the user group pinned posts then it carries any warnings ,
Still cant believe the difference it has made to me, keep expecting to wake in pain and so far (5 weeks in ) nothing . Good luck if you decide to try it

You start with a tsp and work up till comfortable but you need to add 8 turns of fresh milled pepper and an oil carrier e.g coconut, olive or linseed.
