I only use the breast bar, I never bothered to buy a second for the back and in all the years I have had to travel horses like this have never had a problem, and that includes mares and foals

You can get them from any IW dealer or from IW themselves, about £40. Like other poster, I don't use a back bar either but I don't have back ramps open when a horse is inside like at a show so can understand why you want one.

Incidentally, I have a spare old style (full length) 505 central partition if anyone needs one, they're not supplying those any more.

i have never bothered either....

but i've heard mutterings about insurance companies requiring them as they act as stability/roll cage should the trailer (god forbid!) go on it's side...

i've just emiled my insurance company though to get their thoughts so will post for instrests sake...

ok - for intestest sake - KBIS have no specific requirements for how you travel your horse! in case anyone was wondering... i wonder what insurance companies DO require two bars - someone def told me theirs does.... worth checking

I have the Ifor 505 HB (The old one) which comes with a single breast bar as standard. The breech bars however are two webbing straps, which would do nothing to add to the structural robustness in the event of the trailer rolling.
I think whoever told you that was talking out of their rear to be honest..but should you ever track down the source I'd be very interested to know which insurance company it was.
