I have finally left a deposit on a new horse pending full vetting tomorrow (eekk). I noticed that she has one eye that shows more white than the other all the time. I originally thought this was just how she was born but now i'm wondering if it could be a health issue. I suppose only time will tell with the vetting. Ive also heard these horses are bad luck which is all i need! thought id had enough of that with my last horse! some forums state 'never trust a horse with a wild eye'

Am i just being paranoid - anyone else got a horse same? i quite like it, makes her stand out :)

Total tosh! :p I have a piebald who is an absolute sweetie and also an Appy x ID who obviously has the white sclera. His other eye is blue so he must be evil! ;)

It's nothing to worry about. I am forever telling people that my Appy isn't blind in his blue eye, nor is my Border Collie who has two blue eyes. The white is nothing to worry about. Just genetic/cosmetic. Don't worry, it's just the way she popped out.

Now go and enjoy your new horsey. ;) Fingers crossed for the vetting.

I won a sheep dog trial with my bitch an was then asked if she was blind as she has blue eyes. :D:D

Phew! I'm so paranoid! Ive saved for ages for my next horse as i really want to get somewhere then I thought afterwards 'crap what if shes blind and I've gone & bought my next sj/eventer with one eye' I just thought it was unusual for a bay horse (shes a big dutch warmblood). Seen lots of Apps & coloureds with wall eyes or the same 'wild eye' Ive just never seen a bay with one it almost looks a bit goggley haha bless her.

I've got one - he has bucketloads of character and is one of my favourite horses ever :D - but it nearly put me off buying him as a foal because I didn't like the look of it. His breeding (and the vet telling me not to be so stoopid ;)) swayed it for me, thank goodness :)

My welsh A has lots of white around the edge of his eyes - makes him look terrified all the time lol he's a monkey but quite sweet really :) and definitely not blind - he can see you coming to catch him or with food!

I have a chestnut tb with more white in one eye, he is amazing, truly my once in a lifetime horse. So ignore the wives tales, tbh I rarely even notice it now. Good luck with new horse.

I have an skewbald cobxtb with one. She was born with it(i bred her) and she isn't blind. She has been very spooky all her life but it has nothing to do with her eye it is just what she is like.
My friend had a bay tb with one. He looked really different to the rest of the bay tb's i have seen with having it, he really stood out.
Hope your new horse passes the vetting and you can have lots of fun together.

Our sec a has it (ginger mare too ) but she is the 'perfect' 1st pony.

I'm not a fan looks wise but it doesn't bother me either if everything else is right!

Good luck!

On the racing yard I used to work at, we had a few bay yearlings one season with wild eyes. One was particularly pronounced. We called him piggy, because he had piggy eyes. Other than that he was exactly the same as the others.100% normal!

I have an Appaloosa x Welsh/TB who has 2 "wild eyes" but he's such a good boy! Can be an absolute nightmare at times but most of the time I love him to bits :rolleyes:

My coloured always she's the white around his eyes but he's the softest, quietest four year old he just looks googly too!!
