Anyone have a Kent and Masters saddle?

Just wondered if anyone has one and what your thoughts are on the quality? I know they had an issue with the leather wearing badly previously and wondered if this had been resolved?
 
Oh dear, I followed your previous thread about problems with a new saddle, and wondered which make it was. I have three K&M saddles and they have all been fine, especially considering the price. The newest is a year old. I have one GPD and two S series.

I'm sorry that you have had trouble with yours.
 
I love mine it's a fantastic saddle I prefer it compared to a number of more expensive saddles. Leather is good quality, adjustable, soft and comfy. Perfect!

Aw thank you but my current saddle isn't a K&M... I was just considering alternatives. I had sat in a K&M as it's a v similar fit to my current one but it felt more bulky. Still trying to decide what to do! Just given mine a good oiling to see of that helps (never use oil, always used conditioner but nt seemig to help the dryness).

I hate saddles :'(
 
I've had a K&M for about 3 years now, I love it. It's still in great condition, is very comfortable and I love the fact that it is easily adjustable.
 
I'm going to the saddlers tomorrow to look at buying a new kent and masters possibly a s series. I'll let you know my thoughts. I'm really impressed with the research that's gone into them so hopefully the quality will be just as good.

YO suggested getting one for her horse that I ride so tried the other liveries who had one and hated it. (I was riding my horse in an Albion Kontact jump) YO went ahead and bought one anyway, (jumping saddle) and I must admit I find it very comfy. Have no idea why I liked one and hated the other as both jump and both the same seat size. Def worth the money. This one is almost 3 yrs old and it's standing up to being used on two horses most days very well.
 
I have an S series dressage and like it. Ok - it isn't the best quality leather but has stood up to 18 months of regular use fine (with minimal looking after)! Leather still in good condition. I'd buy another.
 
I love my K&M GP saddle. It's nearly 2 years old but still in excellent condition. I particularly like the adjustable big knee & thigh rolls - really hold you in a secure position. It's exceptionally comfortable - other people who've ridden my horse have commented how comfy it is.
 
Mine is 18 months old and although initially it felt so different to my previous saddle, I've got used to it and am very happy. I do remember reading that (2-3??) years ago there was a problem with a faulty batch of leather.

The only problem I have had with mine is that I had to have the gullet plate replaced after 6 months as it had spread. Apparently there was a faulty batch of them. The replacement has been fine.

I think for the money they are pretty good.
 
I have a GP and a dressage.
The GP seems poorer (but fine) quality leather, and at 4 and a half years old, is about 3.5 years older than the dressage, but I am very happy with both saddles.
They are at the budget end of leather saddles, and you do get what you pay for.
 
I have two. The dressage version I bought this year was one of the ones made with the faulty leather, after two uses the flaps looked five years old! They replaced it with a saddle made with a new batch of leather and I've had no issues. Lovely comfortable saddles and they fit my XW cob perfectly.

Oh thanks I've heard nothing but good things about the s series. It'll be my first leather saddle so I'm really excited.
 
I had one and although it was a nice saddle it was too forward cut for my big shouldered connie.

You are advised to go up 1/2 a seat size with them though - i was not told this and mine tipped me forward terribly because of this
 
We've one almost 4 years old, I suspect it's the better end of the poor batch of leather, as at one point a crease started to appear in the saddle beneath my daughter's leg, it went back to K&M but they decided it wasn't an issue I needed to treat the leather more, and ever since I've been using Stubben Hamerol on it, and have got the crease out. Does come up looking very nice, and is very comfortable. I do need to continually feed the leather but other than that we're really happy with it, has been re-flocked annually and it is very good condition considering it's used pretty much daily for most of the year. Getting an S series for the new horse so hopefully that will do well too.
 
I got one for my 4 YO as there was no point getting a really nice one yet as she's still growing. Love the fact it's adjustable and also I can remove knee rolls to make it more or less forward cut. Good everyday saddle and I'll probably keep it for her regular riding saddle when she's stopped growing.

Have to say I am pleased with mine and wish I'd hot it years ago as I feel my old saddle may have been some of the reason for my horse starting to refuse fences! I left it far too late as, since I got my K&M aboit 3 or 4 years ago now we've had no issue. Our physio recommends them as they have a much wider gullet than other saddles - ie all the way down, doesn't taper in at the back of the saddle. Mine is black AMD I admit to not being one who cares for their tack maybe as well as they should but saddle still looks good and I have had NO issues with the leather at all. I got the gp cob as liked the square cantle and saddle fitter advised this design means the front bars are set further back which suited my horse's shape better and doesn't interfere with his shoulder. Perfectly comfortable saddle and suitable for hacking, dressage and I've jumped and done xc in it fine. Couldn't ask for more for the money really.
