Hi Guys,

Some people know that I lost my rotty a couple of days ago. It was quite sudden and unexpected and i miss her terribly.

Now Ive always liked the pomeranians but we never wanted three dogs. (We have a sibe bitch and my OH wants more sibes as soon as we buy our own place. Thats great but sibes are quite different imo.)

Im a very "huggy" person with my animals. I of course have a horse but the dog doesnt go with me there anyway.

My parents had King Charles Spaniels while i was growing up and i loved how huggly they were but dont especially like their appearance.

So - anyone have much experience with this breed? Ive read that despite their size, they're quite active... at least they do enjoy to be walked. I want something affectionate and loving and I'd prefer it to be "my dog" so to speak. I think the poms are adorable and just wondering if anyone knows much about them?

Thanks in advance!

Hmmmmm.. Poms may look cute but any dealings I have had with them have been far from cuddly... TBH the owners too have mentioned that they aren't the most 'huggable' of dogs..

They are snappy little f*ckers!!!

to be honest......mostly due to the pampering factor

As small dogs go to be honest I would look no further than your parents previous choice.......u cant go wrong with a CAVI they are and make gorgeous little pets.

Poms can be incredibly noisy too ...they are also very difficult to obtain as they are not easy to breed from - have a look at the two sizes of German Spitz ( Mittle and Klein) and the Japanese Spitz all in my opinion much easier dogs than a tiny Poms

I used to have a Chihuahua x Pom many years ago. She was white and very fluffy! Also had the biggest attitude problem ever! She was quite cuddly and liked to be brushed e.t.c. But was very yappy.

She would bark at a every car that passed if she was in the car driving somewhere and would bark at everyone passing by at home.

However she never used to bark when I left her at home like my JR!

TBH as much as we loved her, she wasn't as nearly as fun or loving as our JR.

We're going to look at some border collie litters instead. Seems like a huge jump i know, but ive had collies before and have always had active dogs.

We're expanding our huskies once we buy our own place with more space, but of course, they cant be off the lead and i wanted a dog that would be more mine. My last collie was terribly devoted and very much "my dog" so perhaps what Im wanting is indeed the breed i used to have

I think im just somewhat attracted to the ideal of a fluffball, but i dont want a grumpy one :P
