Im looking at the shires highlander winter turnout as I know shires come up big and also it states on some sites its extra deep, but others it doesnt, anyone got one? and if so do they come up big and are they deeper than usual?

thanks

I have one Mark Todd cause I needed 7'3".............but all my rugs are Shires and all my horses live out 24/7.
I find they never slip, rub manes out or leak...........although I would have to challange your comment on Shires being on the generous size..........I always buy a size bigger!!

I have a burgundy one and it is 6'6 and fits my horse perfect i wouldn't say they are big sizes tho. Also the neck bit where it joins to the rug rubbed my last horses mane away.

But very snug rugs and i love it.

ETS when i mean rubbed mane away i mean about 4 inches of it from the withers

Well in shires before ive been able to get away with full size instead of extra full, I had a 6'6 fleece on a horse which came up big,
but I may go for a 7'3 if thats the case, he has at the minute a everest medium and a saxon both far too short for him and now hes got fat they just dont fit at all so going on fleabay

His weatherbeeta heavy is a 7'3 but his landa is a 7ft

I bought a highlander this year. I bought a 6'3 but would say it's a small 6'3, I wondered if it was because it has a cotton lining rather than the nylon material which makes it seem smaller? As I have the Shires 100gram rug in a 6'3 which seems to be a bigger fit???

my shires rugs are all the right size - she takes 6 6 in all rugs.
They really nice rugs - deep too which is gr8.
i love my stormcheeta and i also have a highlander combo - both fab rugs

Got an ancient Shires HWT combo turnout - seems to be the same dimensions as Weatherbeeta - it's 7' and fits my 17.3 as does the WB - but the PE 7'3 is too small for him.... so I would say it's quite generous.

Also very hard wearing - it's at least 5 years old and only one tiny snag on it and still the original straps

I've got the Shires Highlander with the detachable neck for my pony. She's a small 4'9 - most rugs are way to big round the neck and in a lot of brands she fits into 4'6 as they make them so big these days

I got the Highlander in 4'9 and it fits her perfectly. It doesn't slip and it doesn't rub
