Hi all,

I am looking into insurance for my loan horse, and am shopping around as my previous insurance company quoted me a large amount compared to what I was paying before. This company (http://www.horse-insurance.co.uk) gave a great quote, but it's not one of the more prominent or well known companies. I have read their terms and it looks really good but it would be great to get feedback from anyone who has used them.

I am looking to insure tack around £1200, older horse for all vets fees, and public liability. Any suggestions would also be very welcome :)

Also please feel free to PM if you prefer if you have any feedback.

Many thanks in advance

If you're clued up on insurance/insurance terms and ensure you read the small print then you can save yourself some money by insuring with E&L (that is the company whose website this is) but they do not have a good reputation at all and haven't for years and, unless you know the policy wording and general exclusions inside out it can mean you face a real battle if you have to claim. Also, check their co-insurance clause on the vets fees as I think it's £x or about 17.5% whichever is the greater for each claim. Can mean you're paying A LOT if you claim. It may even be more than 17.5% to be honest. As for tack, if you have house/contents insurance you'd be best checking if it can be covered under that policy.

Thank you for your responses - I hadn't realised they were one and the same as E&L. I will keep looking I think, I had to claim with my last policy and they were great, so easy and worked well with the vet.

Ladyt25 - thanks for those tips, I hadn't thought of household insurance, though as it is a loan horse I don't own the tack, I don't know if that may have an effect on household insurance but will look into it to see.
