In brief, well I will try to be, my horse has been diagnosed with a paraneoplastic response that is presenting as an endocrine disorder. He has had a skin biopsy that shows hair follicle atrophy and suggested causes were endocrine system and a paraneoplastic response. We have checked his thyroid function and t3 was sluggish and t4 was adequate so thyroid dysfunction has been ruled out and I'm left with the diagnosis of a paraneoplastic response to a primary tumour. Bloods hardly show anything other than persistently low phosphorous, neutrophils and WBC. Don't really know what to do next and wondered although this is very rare if anyone had any experience of it? Any advice welcome.
