Hi,
I think my mare may have pulled a muscle and wondered if anyone has experienced this and could advise on the symptoms...
About a week ago now, after going amazingly @ comp the weekend before, took her in the arena to school....she was OK in walk, a little crabby in trot and when I asked for canter, she jammed the front end into the ground, refused to move and bucked on the spot when I put my leg on....Initially, I thought it was her season, as she was in season and can be a little crabby (tho has never done this before), so I stuck her on regumate and hacked her for 2 days (she was fine out hacking even in canter)....Took her back into the school the next day, she was fine for 5 mins in walk, but as soon as I out my leg on to trot she refused to move again, was kicking out and then started bucking....she then got really bad with it, ears flat back, ran backwards and bucked!
I have been hacking her since and she has now been on the regumate for a week.....she seems OK hacking, however, yesterday - I gave her a bit of a kick to get her going and she put her ears back, swished he tail and cow kicked....same thing as in the school...I backed off with my leg and she carried on as normal...
I am now wondering whether its not her season and she has maybe strained a muscle...She isn't lame and I guess the fact that shes a nightmare in the school is that it's not straight lines and Im asking for more engagement...hackin mainly in walk, with a little trot and short canters, all in straight lines...
Anyone had similar experience?
Regards,
George
