Any thoughts really.. I need a pair of riding boots for a side saddle showing show that we will be doing in June (my first one!!) and came across the Robinson's Softy Top ones:
http://www.robinsons-uk.com/product...arentGroupCode=0103&groupCode=01301#sku.21440
(they are the £81.00 ones at the bottom right of the page).

When I school or ride out side saddle, I just wear my paddock boots as my Ariat field boots come up too high and are too bulky to ride side saddle comfortably in. My Aigle rubber riding boots that I've shown dressage in the winter in, will be too hot under my wool habit in the summer!!

I just wanted a soft boot that I could point my right toe downward easily in and not come up too high to dig into the backs of my legs and thought since they say they are "soft", they may do the trick. The leg length measurements on them aren't as tall as my Ariats either.

Does anyone have them? Are they really soft? The listing says they are "generous fit", do you find that they run big? Best to go down a size? I'm a size 8 (42) with 15 1/2" calves (so 39cm) but the calves on the 7's (41) seem to be a better fit. How are the zippers on them?

LOL, just want to be sure before ordering them (can't get to a Robinson's shop to try them) and don't want to spend £81 if the zippers are rubbish on them too.

I got them in a regular size 7 and they came up HUGE on the calf!
Im quite slim (10) so i thought the regular would be fine but they must come up big.
Other than that they are nice boots, the quality of their leather in reality isn't as promising as the picture but then again thats robinson's for you!
:)

Personally if you're spending that money i would pay another £20 quid or so and get something decent :)
