Anyone have these

I don't have any myself, but from what I've heard on social media / friends PE don't generally have the best reputation for their boots. I was only reading a post on a Facebook group this afternoon where someone had been having issues with slipping / twisting and on one boot the inside plastic had broken through and gone into the horse!

As above really. I don't have these because I was warned before I bought. They have improved the design to limit the penetration from the front of the boot which was a real issue; but the old style was really prone to slipping and twisting on the leg. They are not cheap so for me we went with something with a better track record for actually fitting.

I have had these (well, the standard versions) and never had any problems like that with them, and generally really liked them. But for new horsey went for the LeMieux Stealth ones, and I think I like them more. I've only had them a few months but have done 2 full days bloodhounding without a single slip or twist and seem to be washing well so far! Also seem to keep the legs cool (or as cool as possible) from what I can tell (horse sweated up under brushing boots but doesn't with these)

We bought N.E.W equine rather than PE last event season and they have done very well. To an extent fit depends on your horse's leg shape and way of going. These worked well for us, but I have heard people have concerns that the hind boot comes up quite long.

I had these I think these might be a newer version .
They rubbed the horse ( a Clydesdale welds d cross not a fine skinned horse ) badly I chucked them .

I've just bought some and they are lovely and soft inside and haven't moved at all so far. My horse does have the legs of a carthorse tho and the hinds are pretty long even on him. I'm pleased with them so far. I wanted white so the options were limited as to what I could get.

I had them and sold them. Lovely looking boots but so long! Horse would need to have really really long legs for them to fit lol! Width just fit, but he couldn't bend his hocks/fetlocks/knees without them interfering.

FF did you get the same all round or did you buy smaller for the front?? My boy normally wears size 2 in front and 3 behind he has a 7 and 8 inch bone

I got the biggest size all round but the hinds are really not as wide as they are long if that makes sense, I could see them being a struggle on most horses. He is 17h and a WB with the hind legs of a cart horse.

I had these but rarely use them, they're too long and have slipped before. They're almost a bit too roomy in all areas. Have to say I love my N.E.W XC ones, they've lasted years and never slip etc.

Hes a big boy....................

my mare is 16.1 ID so would you say the horse ones would be too long for her???

I think you'll have a problem with the width being too small and the length too long to get the width for the hinds but that's just a guess.

This. My 16.3 chunky ID was just ok with the width, but were far too long. Were like travel boots on my 16hh!

Just spoken to PE and they said she would need medium ie

10.5 width by 10 inches down and backs 11.5 x 13.5

She said a lot of the time people buy large as they have a 16 hh + where really the large ones of these are for 17hh ish horses but it depends on bone and cannon/shannon bone length and width so I will measure here again later.

I had my 15.2hh in the medium PE ones and they weren't too long on her! I think the only photos I have of her wearing them are action shots but still might give you an idea of length... She always had to have them quite tight because she had fairly little legs, there was a lot more velcro for chunky legs left! (second one isn't the best photo of either of us but you can see the boots quite well :p )

Yes, slipped as shown after we had been in some water, went back the NEWs as I used for the front and never had an issue with them

Hard to see as cannot zoom in but I think it's one boot, erm haven't got long before the ride (Easter Monday) thank you for the info Gals very helpful:)

I have some of these. Think mine might be an older version as I've had them about 3 years. I've had no problems with them and both my WB and my TB have worn them. Admittedly they fit the WB better but they have never twisted in the TB. If you ever watch national hunt racing on TV you will see some of the racehorses wearing Premier Equine boots, recognisable by the blue dots. This seems a pretty good endorsement to me although the racing ones are a different version

I have the Premier Equine and agree the hinds are long. I found the hinds twisted and rubbed when I first had them but then I discovered that if I tighten them 10 mins or so after putting them on they are fine. They are quite stiff but when they've been on a few minutes they soften from the horses body heat enabling you to tighten them up and therefore preventing slipping and twisting.

I suspect maybe they were designed for something more tb in type? Though they also don't go through water racing and mine was fine until we did.

Yes one boot off hind slipped right down T.

Mine were only a sale pair so I stuck them on eBay :p
