Because of all the rain the water tables are really high. The concrete apron that our stables is on is seeping water up from the ground, so the floor is always wet.

This week I had to remove my entire bed of shavings because they were soaked through and the floor was dripping. In despair I have had to leave my t.b's out as I cant afford to be replacing a whole bed each week.

Does anyone else have a similar problem and do you have any suggestions of what to do. My yard is privately rented from a farmer and there is no point asking his help, he just wants money and no hassle.

The apron around my stables is 2 inches deep in water and rising, the first stable has standing water one third of the way in. The shavings beds in the other stables are also sodden although the water hasn't yet reached them, so it must be happening to me too. Thre are floods on 3 sides of the stables (barn). We have sandbagged as much as we can but fighting a losing battle as more heavy rain is forecast. Have cleaned out 2 stables and just put a bit of straw on the sopping mats. Luckily they live out and only use them as shelters and to eat hay (after wading through 8" of water)

Don't have a prob with water coming up more coming down! we were just talking about it this morning when I saw how wet my horses bed was. Looked up and the roof is sodden as well as the back, wooden, wall which seems to take the brunt of the weather. The floor looked wet, on rubber matting, so left bed up but it hadn't made any difference by this afternoon. Kept turn out rug on overnight one to dry out on the horse and two to keep him dry from the dripping roof!!

Yep we have this problem too. My mares stable (converted barn) has just got a cobbled/earthen floor and the land to the back and side is about 2 foot higher than the barn. I use auboise, admittedly it soaks up just as much from the floor as it does from my mare it is just about managable although expensive. I throw each bed up everyday to try to let the floor dry out a bit.

My stable is built with breeze blocks and a concrete floor. I have rubber matting and matted walls and also bankings (silly really but have always had them!) My shavings bed is wet. I removed a barrow full today from arround the back wall but have left the bankings as Im hoping although they are wet they may soak some of it up. I thought it was coming through the back wall at the bottom but maybe its the floor, never thought of that. We usually get a bit of damp through the winter but this is the worse its been.

Megazorb is more absorbent than shavings. I use it under my shavings it would help if you have a damp problem .It would take up alot of water and save some of your bedding and can be left down like a deep litter.
