As per title really. My summer turnout is supposed to be 24 hour but YO has made me bring them in at night for the last week or so and they have even had to stay in during the day a couple of times as the grazing is waterlogged and fields are quite small....

Am not happy. Anyone else?

Well in all fairness your YO can't help the weather. And given how awful it's been, I'm sure the horses don't mind one bit.

No problems so far but we are expecting more heavy rain tomorrow and sunday. Fortunatle we are on a hill but because of the structure of the land under the grazing it still makes lakes even though its on a slope!
Bizarre Mendips!

People may keep horses in tomorrow night purely because of the rain rather than flooding but everything has coped well so far and the ground isnt cutting up.

Nope, we never have restricted turnout though. My field is on a slope, so most of it isn't too water logged. Chex is spending most of his time in the new lake though!:

I've kept my horses in more days than not in the last 2 weeks, it's been horrible, and what little grazing we had is a mud bath.

LMAO @ Chex. He's a real water babe isnt he?

I have to keep ponio out of the piggy paddock as he just churns it up. YO hasnt said I have to, I just do out of respect for his land.

Ha, ha Chex is loving it! Your land looks like it has always been a bit of a flood plain....all that reed is a giveaway.

Horses out at night at the mo, and in in the day! Changed them round about 4 weeks ago now. We've not yet swapped them back round, but seriously considering it given the weather this weekend - our horse don't have any shelter in their fields, so they can't even hide under a tree!

Chex looks great. My old horse used to go wading into their pond to eat all the pondweed. It also meant it took me longer to catch her, so she could avoid being ridden for a bit longer

Ours can still go out 24/7 but most have been brought in at night as it's been such awful weather.

Yeah, its usually a bit boggy, think there's a natural spring somewhere in- not usually this much water there though lol

He's a complete water baby - just loves it! Unfortunately he'll roll in it if I ride him through any water

.He's done it twice, and now I just don't go near any lol. Its also his new way to avoid being caught - I couldn't get any closer to him cos the water was up the top of my wellies

PMSL....cheeky devil!! Thomas is a bit prone to standing in the spring in his paddock and digging at it with a front leg, he loves to splash and I swear he aims for me when I go to get him in!

my fields are my own to maintain - i have two individual paddocks at my yard which i use when i want. Bloss is out today, but both will be staying in all weeking to save my paddocks from getting muddy. Archie will probably go out for an hour on saturday and an hour on sunday - but no longer.

Neither of them care and im sure they both much prefer to be warm and dry in their stables.

Chex looks like he's having fun!!!

maddie a bit like that.
Maddie and sandy are out when I can get them at the moment, their in at night. Ewan can't get out in it as he's to small to be playing in the water in the field

. We don't have restricted turnout lucky!!

We used to this in the winter our field and Yard always floods in winter, so we're used to it!!
our only problem is we right next to the flood plain of the river spey which is next to the sea. So we have to watch for flood warnings and the tides.

As there as not been a huge amount of rain fallen here (well nothing out of the norm for ireland

) Yo really doesnt mind wether I put out or not in heavy rain , although Missys field is on a hill , Missy does mind though and would rather be in .

We have brought ours in for the evenings at the mo, the fields are'nt badly waterlogged but they do like to charge around, so it more to save the land from being cut up, and they do enjoy being in in this weather, mind you so do i

Love the pic of Chex doing a good impression of a Camargue horse! He looks very happy in his watery environment!

LOL he loves it. Although if I was to hose his legs, or even sponge them then all hell breaks loose

. He loves water as long as its his choice (typical stubborn cob!)

We've had severe floods here but fortunately the fields are on a slope so dont get too waterlogged. The biggest problem is that the walkway to and from the field is in the valley and all the water pools there. I had to virtually swim to get my friends stranded gelding in from the field earlier this week.

I have kept mine in a couple of days but more because it was bucketing down and they just look so fed up out.

More rain forecast though.

We have not been told to bring in - we are on 24 x 7 t/o.

My the field is looking a little rough and is soggy so I have brought my boys in most nights - basically I want the field to last until October so it is in my interest to keep them off it at night to give it a chance to survive their rather large feet and weight. They are out every day though and as soon as it dries up will be back on 24 x 7.

If you owned the fields and had to upkeep them you may feel very differently lol!!

I now have a yard to myself and lovely paddocks huge x 4, BUT I have to admit I kept mine in the other day as its so easy for them to fencewalk and churn them up, its just not worth it to lose that grazing.

I have one on box rest and thought that was really bad, but now having to keep the other one and the mini shetlands in too because the fields are so wet! It is such a lot of work in the summer when you expect to have a little bit more time to ride and not muck out!

I rent a field so can do what I like with it. My boy is on a small bit of the field by his field stable as on a diet. He just wanders around in or out of his stable as he pleases really. He either eats his hay I leave him in his stable or munches on bits of grass...he has a life of riley really!!! In front of his stable is pretty muddy now but I don't mind...it will dry and grow back eventually.

Ours have been in most nights this week (only went out one night) and they are happier in because of the horrible weather we have been having.

Hopefully, they will be able to go back out 24/7 again either over or after the weekend.

Ours are out 24/7 all the fields are on a slope though so only the bottom field would really have a problem, allthough that isnt even at the bottom of the slope!

Only problem turnout wise we have had lately is a pony that has been in for a month on vets advise ow turened out in a VERY small area all electric fencing. He just keeps jumping into our field and mcuking it up little s***. Stupidest part is that he is now banned from jumping for life!!!!!!!!

I keep mine at home so all mine are out 24/7, with access to their stable & shelters of course though so they have the choice. I did however bring 2 of mine in for the day because I figured they'd be ok without rugs overnight (the weather was ok when I left them last night) and they'd use the shelters if they got cold. They were stupid - found them shivering in the highest (windiest!) part of the field!!
