I don't use shavings but went to pick up some other bedding yesterday at local supplier and heard them mention to another customer that they hadn't been able to get hold of any shavings.
I've been lucky recently and have managed to pick up quite a few bales of Easi-Bed and Nedz Bedz Pro for £3 & £4 a bale as either the bags are split or they have got slightly damp one end, soon dry out when the bed is laid or even split the bag where it's damp and it dries whilst being stored.
I had to rush out and get some last week and my feed shop seemed to have plenty, they were £5.50 a bale, but I have heard shavings are in short supply and the price will be increasing so I'd find some and bulk buy now if I were you.
I'll hopefully be OK cos I've had the same supplier for years and buy 50 bales at a time. Everyone on yard is struggling getting shavings and Easibed and being told the shortage will get worse over next couple of months! My supplier said they are getting short and he's suggested I buy again now.
My OH is a Feed Merchant and shavings are in very short supply. We get our shavings from Andersons and we usually get 2 full artic lorry loads a week, we are now down to one a week and having to turn new customers away and limit existing customers to one pallet at a time. The price for our 26kg bale of shavings is £6.70.
