Where are you travelling from (to get to Stamford)? can then check for you (know train timetables well)
Thank you!! It’s been a few years since I last visited the UK and used the trains, of course this would happen o_O

So my friend is flying into LGW and I’m flying into LHR a couple hours after she arrives. We were planning on meeting at/around King’s Cross then once together going to Peterborough where we are lodging. Then of course Peterborough to and from Stamford for the event on Saturday and Sunday.

Thank you again!

Thursday and Friday (depending on when you land) both look ok for getting from Kings Cross to Peterborough. Looking at National Rail, make sure you get the one that only takes 50minutes. You do not need to get the 1hr 40 one!

Peterborough to Stamford (and return) for Saturday - trains are running (currently accordingly to timetable, this can change!) but they're only every two hours for what is only a 12minute journey. As they're only every two hours, I'd perhaps consider a back up plan in case they cancel.

Peterborough to Stamford (and return) for Sunday - they're running on an hourly service, which is normal for that route.

Download the National Rail app, it's pretty decent and you can see live trains/plan your journey etc. If you need any help, please do pm me :)

Thank you so much @teapot! And @hollyandivy123 :)
Worst case scenario would be a taxi from Peterborough to Stamford. There are a couple of local taxi firms that would do a fixed price between £15 and £20 depending which bit of Peterborough you are staying in. You could always post on some of the local FB horse sites to see if anyone has space to gift you a lift in their car, will be loads of Peterborough people going.

I'm going for the first time on the Friday and Saturday. I was reading that if you are driving you need to allow for an hour to cover the last 10 miles. I'm thinking of getting a train to Stamford and walking from there. Has anyone done this, is it straight forward?
Would be a bit of a hike I think.

I have been going for probably near on 20 years and never had too much of a problem getting in. I normally get there on XC day for about 8-8.30 am, SJ day about 9am (same for dressage).

Leaving on the XC day can be a pain but it hasn't been too bad the last couple years.

Will be going all four days again this year :D

Yes if you go before 9 it's fine, after 9.30 forget it unless you want to sit in traffic!

Travelling from Australia, leave Thursday night, spend a few days with relatives then train on Wednesday morning to Stamford. Staying at the Garden House, so hopefully walking distance. Have tickets for all 4 days so I can make the most of it.
Anyone else staying at Garden House? Would like to meet up as my friend who was coming broke her leg earlier this year and decided the walking would be too much so going alone. thanks for the heads up about prices, packed lunch it will be.
Really looking forward to it, was all booked just before COVID so been waiting a while.
How was the Garden House? The reviews I see online are a little iffy?
