Anyone heard of Regumate not working?

Yes, one of my mares was on double dose and still presenting in season, so we had her blood tested to check hormone level and techincally wasnt in season, my vet checked with one of the top repro vets in the country and its unusual but not un-common if you know what I mean. And it was due to her being a dominant mare and still needed to show a season.
We dropped the regumate level as made no difference so saved me money!

Thanks for you replies :)

The Mare has been on it at 12 ml since 15th June this year. She came into season 1st July, I contacted the vet, who was gobsmacked to say the least, and was advised to increase the dose to 16ml. She settled down until today 21st July and now she is apparently in season again.

Interestingly she is without doubt a dominant mare!

Obviously I'll contact my vet tomorrow (didn't want to disturb the poor guy on a Sunday!) But maybe we need to check bloods then.

What a royal pain!

ETS we were using it to try and settle her Jekyl and Hyde character, which we thought was seasonal from her behaviour. There is no doubt there has been an improvement in her behaviour, but now it's working out what is naughty/hormonal or just plain 4 y/o!

Has she been scanned??? Regulate won't work if tumor in ovary. My mare has had one ovary removed, as granulosa tumor on it

Wjat they said- she needs at least blood testing before being given Regumate. It didn't work on out little mare (her behavior became increasingly erratic) and then blood tests revealed she had more testosterone in her blood than you'd expect in a stallion, and she had aggressive ovarian tumours.

She was a freak case, but we were told that vets shouldn't allow Regumate to be used without at least a blood test before giving it.

Mine was on 32ml and still showing in season!! she was scanned too with nothing showing.
I would scan and blood test then might just be one of those things, I took mine back to 12ml after the tests and consultation with repro vet, as I knew she wasn't in season.

What about a marble they are ment to be great a friend had her mare done not allot for vet to put in place and that's it far cheaper than regumate and safer as regumate is dodgy stuff for younger people
