Hi guys, looking to see if any of you are from or around the Abingdon area and can help with some info re livery yards/competition venues etc? Possibly relocating to the area, and currently in Scotland so I am limited to what I know.. Will come down to scout about as obviously I need to find somewhere I'm happy with for my boy to live before it all happens.
Any help to go on would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

Oh yes please, just need any recommendations of some reputable yards that would offer 24/7 turnout in summer, daytime turnout in winter, good school indoor ideal but can live with all weather outdoor.. If u could give me some idea of prices/facilities etc in the area that would be most helpful if you wouldn't mind? :)

Worton park! few miles from Abingdon (6 maybe?) but staff will feed for you and great prices, can pay for assisted livery tasks, indoor and outdoor etc. Can pm you other details as I have viewed a lot of yards all around that area.

I'm in Long Wittenham which is a couple of villages along. We struggle round here for decent yards - I moved here 4 years ago and still haven't moved my horse (he's about 15 miles away) because I haven't found a yard I want to move to yet, there are a few but I don't want DIY. Are you definitely going to Abingdon itself or are you flexible on location around here? Might be worth popping down and seeing a few yards first in case it affects where you move to! Sounds silly but I have moved before to be near my horse rather than the other way around...

There is a nice DIY yard in Appleford which is not far away. Otherwise there are a few others around... I'll dig out some details if you want, I have most of the phone numbers.

It will definitely be Abingdon as moving in with my cousin who already stays there so fixed location.. TT I know years ago my cuz used to live in Didcott but I'm not overly sure how far away that is.. I literally know nothing. Hence any info/recommendations that anyone can give me is hugely appreciated.

Hey again, have been told by my cousin that the nearest yards to her are Orchard Farm and Bensons Middle Farm - does anyone know anything of them including rough prices? Have had a quick look at both their websites and they seem to both offer what I am looking for. Also I think Malthouse EC is nearby tho possibly wring direction for traffic she said(?) so any info on livery there as website doesnt say much?
I am coming down next weekend to have a look around for places so just trying to get as much info as possible.. Thanks :)

Do not go to malthouse!!

Bensons is a good DIY yard, no lessons allowed in school tho which is fair enough ad people aren't to book a time slot! It's about 40 per week but I believe there is a waiting list!

Orchard farm is nice too but only part:full livery

If I were you I'd go to grove farm it's lush! But I couldn't afford to have 3 there! YM seemed lovely when I enquired. If I pick my tome of day well I can do Abingdon to didcot in 8minutes!

Flippin heck beans what time is that!! :p

Oh ok, no to Malthouse then.. Can I ask why, pm if u prefer, just being nosey as new to area so know nothing but obviously dont want to go somewhere that doesnt have a nice feel to it or has wide known problems etc..

Would also love to know what time of day either of you reckon that abingdon to grove farm would be doable in that time(mainly as I think I can be fairly flexible as to when I can go to yard everyday so can maybe work traffic to my advantage if poss), again i have no concept of travel times/distances down there, im just going on what my cousin has told me. I think if i remember right she said to avoid yards south of abingdon for traffic issues - but again dont no why etc.. Ideally i would like to be within 25 mins max..

Yes, I'd go for Orchard over Bensons! Bensons have fab facilities but Orchard offer a much more pleasant experience. Bensons owners are very stressed. Good luck!
