anyone here hav an icelandic pony??

I don't have one but ditto what you said! I rode one as a teenager and he was awesome.

I wouldn't hesitate to have one again

My OH's Dad's new partner breeds them - we went up Xmas time and I had a couple of rides. They are the most fun horses to ride. The tolt is so comfy. I would love one but apparently it is advisable to have more than one or they can lose their gait.

Don't own one but went on a riding holiday in Iceland a couple of years ago. Abosolutly amazing, such a fantastic place and the ponies are fab! Those are the pics in my sig. Rode one who was about 13.2hh, called Blakkhur, he looked like the most bog standard pony, nice and quiet and like a little new foresty type. I'm 5'8", and he was dinky, but serious power - not felt anything like it, we had a tolt race and he just kicked into gear!

I have one!
Done all my learning and competitions on big horses but my first, own horse was always going to be an Icelandic. So two years ago I bought my Icelandic mare and have never looked back.
Absolutely fab and a lot of fun - I do everything with her and the extra gaits just add to the challenge. I call it extreme dressage as you have to really know what you are doing if you want to ride all their gaits properly. Most are pretty forward going and not beginner's ponies!

I can verify that T is the most lovely little girl ever - but still no chance I'm riding her, I'd never figure out the tolt
