The yard I used to be on had a load of duplicate names amongst the people and horses. At various times over the years we had 3 Amanda's; then we had 4 Sarah's (3 of whom had surnames beginning with the same letter!); we had horses called Romeo, Romano, Rico and Ramiro; 2 Janes, a Jo and a Joan; a person and a horse called Jade; a horse and a dog called Poppy; 2 people called Claire; two horses called Prince; two horses called William; a member of staff called Jess, who left and was replaced by another Jess ... It seemed the place just attracted duplicates, but we always found ways to distinguish them.
Yep 2 George's here
Quite often they're called big George and little or one of their show names is king George so other people call one of them king.
Can't you give one of them a nick name?
No but I have a dog called Ffion and a pony called Ffion. I call the dog Ffi. I had the dog first and the pony was bought unseen. The name was a factor in me deciding to take a chance. It's paid off in spades.
We have two Blues on our yard, not the same owner, but can be confusing nonetheless. They're called Big Blue and Blue Two as although Blue Two is smaller than Big Blue, you certainly can't call him little!
Years ago when I was a child there were two Goldie's on livery at the riding school I went to. They just added their owner's surnames to them, so they were Goldie Green and Goldie Biggs.
However one was about 15.2 and the other 13.2, also one was very plae palomino and the other very dark palomino.
we have quite a few, have two goldies, so if goldie boy and goldie girl. 3 jem's at the mo big jem little jem and baby jem. have also had holly bay and holly grey.
We had two called Chocolate. We called them Big Choc and Little Choc. Little Choc was actually called Chocolate Buttons so no idea why we didn't just switch her to Buttons.
We have also had two called Rosie and two called Honey but not at the same time.
My husband gives my current two the same name, needless to say it is rude and they both answer to it.
At one point I had a horse called Milly and a dog and niece called Molly. The horses passport name was Milly Molly Mandy (my mum named that one). Very confusing. Sold the horse but still have the niece and dog
My friend has 3 welshes, called jake, jack and josh! Problem being that jack and josh are full brothers and differ by a different white leg and a bit of white on the face!
I worked at a really high class showing yard and we had 2 almost identical 13.2hh chestnut SHPs one called King and one called Fish. I always thoughit Fish was a very rubbish name for a very successful pony, but when I finally got around to asking about it they were both Kingfisher*** Since then I have always wanted a pony called Fish
