Have any blemishes or been injured (as in bad over reach, for example) in any way?
Just curious. I want my yearling to not only 'see the world and do everything, I also want her to stay out of trouble, will this be possible?? Probably unlikely, but can hope. My mare has got a huge blemish on the front of her hock, and many past horses had more minor blemishes or tried to get 'freakily' new ones!!
 
Yes, I can't find one lump,bump or scar on my lad and he's 10! Touch wood nothing will come to him! Plus the amount of trouble he gets into i think he's a lucky boy!
 
Yes, mine. She's not a flighty type though and is only ever really out with sensible horses. When she's out, she doesn't look up either, so doesn't mooch round the field looking for trouble. I'd also try everything to keep her out of harms way, like bunched up in a crowd out hunting. Doubt we'll get through without some mishap or other though, so I try not to be too precious!
 
Our Thoroughbred has, but our dear Welsh Cob does NOT, despite looking for trouble in barb wire

Mine. He's an absolute goon and prats about all day. He lives out all summer, in during the night in winter on rubber mats and shavings. He schools, jumps occasionally, goes out to the beach and shows, hacks out for hours at a time including gallops and roadwork and doesn't have any blemishes or scars (yet :D), and he's 5. :)
 
I think some horses are lucky - and some are not.

My girly came into our family with 2 cracking great splints on her forelegs - the size of walnuts, I kid you not. They have reduced in size by about 70% now.
She also has strips on her bum from being beaten up at some stage - these are only evident when she's freshly clipped.
She came with these human-inflicted injuries.

She has a scar around her fetlock from getting her leg stuck in wire and a lump on her cannon bone from a kick by a shod horse twice her size.
She only has one eye because of cancer.

The older they get, there are more chances are that life will mark them somewhere.

She is one of the unlucky ones.
 
All mine are marked my cob because he a thug so has kick scars he is twenty
WB he was a human bully so human fought back with whips and spurs he is nine
Tb is a huge wimp and gets bullied so kick mark and whip marks from raceing days he is eight
Spanish is the most scared he has whip marks ear twitching marks face scars i think hobbled at one time as has leg mark loads of lump and bumps he only six
Its really hard keeping a youngster out of trouble good luck
 
Yes my old cob was 16 when I sold him and he didn't have a single blemish. Bearing in mind he lived out 24/7 for most of his life (I started bringing in when I went to University with him as I had no option), was hunted/jumped/hacked everywhere and anywhere that was quite impressive. Current horse has loads of blemishes but thankfully being dapple/semi flea bitten now grey you don't notice most :)
 
Yes, my 32 yr old mare doesn't have a single mark on her :-), but I also have a 6 yr old who has at least 7 scars in random places :-(, god knows what happened to her before I got her!
 
'Fraid not XD Ned's got all manner of lumps, bumps and scars! He's got a whopping great scar on his chest, a lump on his nose which has reduced dramatically since he first came (It was honestly like a golf ball under his skin) and a large notch in his neck (Where I'm told is where his hoof went when he was a fetus!) He's also got some minor scars, such as a few around his face and legs.

A few at the yard are minus any type of blemish though :)
 
My girl is blemish free and she has hunted for 2 seasons. She's very careful though! When I was looking to buy one though most had some sort of scar. But then, I was on a budget!
 
Our 30 yr old r&d gypsy cob has no blemishes. She had 7 foals before she was 11 and was very ill with the last one (her only one with us) but hasn't a mark of any kind on her.

In fact we've had very few blemishes, ID came to us with a scar on her cannon from getting stuck in a fence, r&d gelding came to us with a 'splint' on his shoulder, I assume from a badly fitting collar. WelshDxTB cut her leg whilst with us, we could see through to all the structures but it healed without a sign, we washed it twice daily with garlic water. The Westphalian Draft Horse has a front tooth missing, no idea why.

These are the only blemishes out of 11 horses, mind you we don't jump. Current Appy has regularly been on 8hr hacks in large groups over very varied terrain and is quite crackers but has managed never to injure herself.
 
Yup, my stallion hasn't had a single thing yet, and hoping to keep it like that. He can make some weird moves when in the field, I hold my heart everytime... but he's still in one piece! Thank god...
 
well, my cob has had a whacking great scar on the front of each hock, presumably from barbed wire, since before I knew him. My highlands are clear to close inspection (or rather, they were when I left this afternoon :eek:) though strictly speaking there is a very small lump on the inside of the Ferg's radius from a kick - it's remodelled to being almost unnoticable now... The yearling, despite his best efforts, wasn't scarred in anyway when I left earlier....

My 2 veteran ponies dont have a mark on them and have never (touch wood) been injured. They're 23 and 25 (owned them for 20 years!). Both have lived out all their lives. One did some BSJA for a while and did all PC activities like games so wasnt even wrapped in cotton wool ;) Whereas my competition horse had/has a scar when I got him as a 5yo.
