Anyone hunt with the Vale of Aylesbury?

Hello! I am going out with the Vale of Aylesbury on Saturday the 20th with two friends- I haven't hunted for absolutely ages and am really looking forward to it! Does anyone on this forum hunt with them? I am hiring a horse through a guy recommended by the hunt's website as my mare is too neurotic for me to take (though my friends are taking their own horses). Between us, we have one first timer and two who haven't been in years so any advice would be much appreciated!


Btw is it now known as the Kimblewick? am a bit confused!

FYI yes the name has been changed to the Kimblewick Hunt, i think there has been more than enough debate surrounding the name change so lets kick on and go hunting :D

It should be a good first meet for you, we had a lovely Autumn Hunting morning there recently. Its mainly woodland and there are some rails to pop in and out of neighbouring fields but nothing you cannot get around :) John has some lovely horses in as hirelings so i am sure you will have a great day.
Its worth getting to the meet early as the parking is just in front of a large, well stocked tack shop ;) :D then its a 5 min hack to the meet.

Dress warm and bring chocolate/energy bars, i like to have tissues and lip balm in my pocket too. Tweed or plain coats are fine, just try to avoid bling if you can :)

I will be there standing in for my OH (dad_io on here) as secretary as he cannot ride until the end of the month due to surgery. So he is on email or the phone if you have any specific questions :)

I will be supporting the back of the field so if anyone is nervous, they are very welcome to ride with me, cobs always have a calming influence, failing that my saddle flask is always full ;) :)
 
thanks Darkly_Dreaming_Dex, that's really helpful. I didn't know there had been a name change debate so will play it safe and stay well out of it! Will look out for you. Am hoping I can come out on my own horse one day, perhaps I can take her along to autumn hunting next year -really looking forward to my hireling in the meantime!
