I joined a few months ago after using a day ticket a couple of times at Faraway. Since then, the one at Mundole was cancelled and Faraway I couldn't make. Now, Mundole say there won't be any more this year and Faraway is closing (I think they have pulled their remaining dates). So...I've never used the membership.

Where else is there that's any good?? My yard is just West of Elgin and I don't want to go as far as Aberdeen as it ends up costing a fortune and I work full time so don't have a huge amount of time. It's hopeless up here, they should do a reduced price membership!! I'm thinking I might not bother renewing.

Well I keep my horse at Fountain Equestrian and they do monthly BSJA in the winter, then there is some at loanhead but you say you don't want to travel that far. Apparently faraway has been bought by someone else, here is the website http://www.aberdeenshireequestrian.co.uk/ so hopefully they will start running BSJA again but I don't know for sure if they will. It is pretty rubbish up here if all you want to do is BSJA, I only really do it in winter with the odd one in summer then do other stuff in between.

Its pretty rubbish up here for shows isn't it.Jnrs are worse used to go to Dabbs/rowallan etc for them.they're few if any nowadays.
Senoirs think are bit better but not by much.
Agree bout reduced membership definitely don't get the choice they do down south.

Fountains next one is 27th of this month. Loanhead also do BSJA, they're at Kingswells on the outskirts of Aberdeen which is probably too far for you! Their next one is next Sunday (20th). Their website is at http://www.loanheadequestrian.co.uk but they haven't updated their calendar lately...!

So basically Loanhead and Fountain hold monthly BSJA all winter, and Faraway were so hopefully they will again soon. Loanhead's usually the place for the bigger outdoor summer shows (Wilf Lawson Memorial Show is May 31st) and The City of Aberdeen Show is usually run over 3 days, I think in June.

Fountain is at Dyce so more your side of Aberdeen. If Mundole aren't holding any then I dont know anywhere else who does it up your way... I know Annandale held some intro BSJA for a while but theirs has all been cancelled just now.

I also dont do BSJA all year, I tend to do it all winter and then do the odd show amongst BE and showing stuff during the rest of the year.

Have you talked to Jenny at Mundole and asked why there is to be no more, might be worth a try. But I feel if you decide to travel so you can use your membership then its as easy to go down the A9 to Fife venues than it is along the A96 to Aberdeen, cant stand that road.
Can never understand why, when there is such a large horse comunity here, there is a real lack of good venues and large comps. If you don't BE you have very little choice of where to go.
I have heard on the grape vine there is going to be a new equi-centre being built (in the moray area) story is its gonna have a decent indoor school (sorry whats one of then then??) and hold some big comps and have top trainers up for clinics. But I am not holding my breath, I shall believe it when I see it. But oh what a joy an indoor school would be and the dream is nice!

My Mum lives right next to Dabbs but it's 150 miles away - and actually, marginally shorter milegae if you go via Aberdeen from me. Aberdeen is 60 miles but like you say, not a great road (though the A9 is a nightmare and statistically more dangerous as well). I have thought about going to one of their weekend ones and staying. As for Mundole, there must be a reason and I think something to do with first aid. I was well hacked off as the 2 day one in Summer I'd taken 2 days off work for, it was still on BSJA website but not Scottish equestrian and I guessed it must have been cancelled, which it was.
New venue sounds promising, and WELL overdue.
