It's been a long long time since I've had a horse ready to compete but having just got a trailer my youngster and I are ready to take on the world! He's only 2 so I'm looking for a summer of local shows, low level in hand stuff to get him out and about. I know Largs show (only because my friend keeps her horses on the estate!) and I'm aware of Kirkintilloch and Campsie and East Kilbride (I think!) but where on earth do you get schedules for local shows? I'm also looking for training days etc if anyone knows of anything suitable?

There are loads on near Glasgow. There is neilston show first sat in may, drymen show ( around end of may. Campsie show- first weekend in June. Ayr show usually second weekend in may. Kilbarcan show - can't remember when it is and kilmacolm show. There is a show in beith too. Keep an eye on equiads and Scottish farmer, some of the county shows are listed on Scottish horse webite site. They should have contact details too.

Good luck :)

There will be Stirling Show aswell this summer, not too sure of the dates. Also, Kingsbarn Equestrian in Falkirk have a few things lined up - if you go on their website, it will tell you whats on and when. I think they hold clinics too.

ingliston don't have many - there's one on april 9th and then nothing until september

That's going to be our first show!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, hopefully I'll see some of you out and about! Black youngster with three White feet, a white stripe and a chubby owner!!

have a look on www.scottishsportshorse.org for a list of where they are holding their youngstock series.

Not sure if you're on the 'right' side of Glasgow for Ayrshire events, but I've noticed that there is an Ayrshire Unaffiliated shows Facebook group just started up - could be worth a look?
